St Vincent’s is very excited about World Book Day tomorrow, when the children (and teachers!) can come to school dressed up as a book character! There will be lots of exciting book-linked activities during the day. Family members can come into school to read with us during Family Reading at 2.45. Finally, there will be a Book Fair after school. Our last Book Fair raised over £600 in Book Fair Rewards, which we were then able to spend on new books for the school.
Read on to find out why we love reading so much!
“ I like reading because it calms me down when I’m stressed. I love Harry Potter books because they are exciting and make me want to read on!”
J, Year 4
“ I read all the time. I read because it makes me better at English and really helps my imagination. I love lots of books and can’t pick a favourite!”
C, Year 4
“ I’m a good reader and I like to read fantasy books, like Snow White. I sometimes feel like it’s actually happening and I’m inside the story to see all the action happening.”
A, Year 2
“ I love reading because all books are different.I especially enjoy reading play-scripts, like Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
S, Year 6
“Often if I’m bored, my answer is just to get a book because I can always find a new book I haven’t read and I also like re-reading old books.”
A, Year 5
“I love reading because it fills my mind with imagination and makes me feel more confident about writing. Reading lots will help me to write a book one day. When I’m older, I would like to write a book about engineering.”
