Week 5 has come to an end and what a week it has been! We in year 2 learned so much that our heads are positively spinning.

In English class, we continued our writing journey. Here we planned and wrote fact files on the Great Fire of London. We really liked how the information that we learned in History class came in useful during our writing class. We all wrote excellent pieces and Mr. Sheehan was absolutely delighted.

In History class, you guessed it, we continued our theme of “London Then and Now” and furthered our discussion on the Great Fire. This time we focused on what happened in the years after the fire ravaged the city. We learned all about the “Monument” that Christopher Wren built to commemorate the fire. We even had people in the class who visited the monument and brought back brochures to share with the class, these then provided great inspiration for our fact files in English class.

In RE we started to learn all about the sacrament of Baptism and then created beautiful illustrations showing all that it entails. We are also looking forward to hopefully visiting St. James’ church to learn even more from Fr. Philip.

In art class we continued our exploration of primary and secondary colours. We went to the creativity room for the first time and worked in mixing primary colours to create secondary colours.

In addition to all of this we started practicing for our upcoming assembly. We’ve already learned nearly an entire song – with actions included. We cannot wait to learn more!

Next week we are going on our first school trip of the year. We’re going to the Tower of London and we are super excited. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to come, Mr. Sheehan really appreciates it.

Have a lovely weekend one and all!
