Today, Year 6 took part in the ‘Faces and Places’ project run by the National Portrait Gallery.

The Faces and Places project is an investigation of a collection of portraits held in the National Portrait Gallery of inspiring people connected to Westminster and an exploration of what portraiture can reveal about ourselves, each other, our locality and our past as well developing ideas around portrait-making.

We had an enjoyable session with Scarlet and Alba from the National Portrait Gallery. We had the chance to look at ten portraits and explore ways that portraits can reveal ideas and clues about the person. We looked closely to discover clues that each artist gives about the person in the portrait, their life and achievements. We also had the chance to draw portraits of each other, make copies using carbon paper and then weave our two portraits together to make some abstract art.
