This week Reception began our new topic in Religious Education: Prophecy and Promise.
We began our topic by looking at some art work by Leonardo Da Vinci. This art work was over 400 years old!
There were lots of great ideas and we could spot many things in the painting. We could see an angel and a lady who we thought might be Mary. We talked about the colours we could see and thought about where they might be.
Next we heard to a special story called ‘The Annunciation’ from the Holy Bible. We listened to the words that the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary when he shared the special news that God chose her to have a baby called Jesus. We thought about how Mary might have felt to hear this news.
We then looked at different styles of art work which showed The Annunciation. We spotted the Angel Gabriel and Mary in each one and chose our favourite.
To remind us of this special story we created our own angels to put on display in our classroom. We enjoyed colouring in the angel and using paint to make handprints for the angel’s wings. We added a halo to show that Angel Gabriel came to Mary as a bright, shinning light and that he was holy.
WOW RECEPTION!!!
Your angels look soooo pretty! Hope you had fun learning about the annunciation.
