This week Year 1 began their new maths topic. We are looking at numbers to 20! This is a big jump as previously we have looked at numbers to 10. The children have shown off their amazing maths skills this week and their confidence in working with different resources and question types!
We have done a lot of work this week with ten frames, the children quickly discovered that because the numbers we are working with are greater than 10 we need two ten frames to represent them. We have worked on physical ten frames and used some on the board to help us to solve addition questions and problems relating to numbers to 20.
Today the children showed their confidence when working independently using their ten frames to solve a range of challenging questions.
Well done Year 1, you are working so hard in maths!
