This week in Music we got a special delivery!
Mr Hylton introduced a special new instrument to us called claves. Claves are wooden sticks that you can hit together to make a sound.
To warm up at the beginning of the lesson we practiced a new song called ‘Shout for Joy’! It was really fun to sing along to, clap our hands, stamp our feet and turning round.
First, we practiced following a beat along with Mr Hylton. We copied him and kept a steady beat while calling out different responses. We tried our hardest to only hit the sticks when we were meant to and did very well!
Finally, we listened to a song which gave us different instructions such as hitting out sticks together, hitting them to the right, rubbing them together and hitting them above our heads.
It was a very exciting Music lesson today and we can not wait to continue practicing our percussion skills.
What was your favourite part of our Music lesson this week?
