This week, Year 1 had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a cutlery workshop led by Stir. The session was both fun and engaging, teaching the children an invaluable life skill—how to properly hold and use cutlery.

During the workshop, the children were shown the correct way to hold a knife and fork, with clear guidance on finger placement to ensure safe and effective use. They were introduced to the three ‘S’ technique—Stick, Slide, Saw—as an easy way to remember how to cut food properly.

The hands-on experience was a highlight, as the children practised their skills on different fruits and vegetables. Starting with softer beetroot, they progressed to slicing cucumber and, finally, cutting up apple.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, gaining confidence and mastering a skill they’ll use for life!

Thank you to Stir for such a valuable and enjoyable experience.
