Our new topic for Spring 2 is…Seasons.

This is an interesting topic with lots of opportunities to explore our natural world. During this topic we will develop our understanding of the  changing seasons in the natural world around us. We will use the outdoor environment to observe the natural world, exploring the weather and seasonal features. We will develop our communication and language skills to help work out problems and organise thinking and activities, and to explain how things work and why they might happen.

As a year passes, regular changes happen in the weather and the environment. This cycle of weather changes is split into four parts, known as the seasons. The four seasons are winter, spring, summer and autumn.

We would love to find out about what you know already about the seasons!

What is your favourite season and why?

We will share all of your responses in class which will create some fantastic discussions!

  1. Spring
It’s beginning of persian new year
We celebrate first day of spring for 13 days as is our first day of new year.

  2. Bethan does not have a favourite season; she likes them all for different reasons. She loves Christmas in winter but wishes we had more snow to make snowmen. In springtime she likes to see the flowers and baby geese in Regent’s Park. During the summer she likes to go on she holidays to Ireland where she sees her cousins. In autumn she likes the yellow, red and orange leaves.

  3. Francesca’s favorite season is Summer. Because she goes to the beach in Italy. Francesca loves the sea and looks forward to try her swimming skills in the “real” water 🙃. Summer means seeing the friends on the beach and trying new games each year.

  4. Maja‘s two favourite seasons are spring and summer because it is sunny then and the flowers bloom. Maja also likes swimming in the sea, playing in the little rock pond her brothers build for her every year and going to the café and choosing ice cream from the big chest fridge! She likes it when the birds come out and when she gets to nap on the beach.

  5. William doesn’t have a favourite season as he likes all of them. He likes autumn because the leaves change colour and fall off the trees and we can collect conkers. He loves winter because it is usually cold and he hopes it will snow. Spring brings new flowers and birds singing in the trees. There’s a chance to see a rainbow with the rain and sun at the same time.
William loves summer because it is usually sunny and we eat ice cream!

  6. My favourite season is the summer because we can see the bright colour leaves on the trees.
Also, going on holiday during the summer is very fun.

  7. Siena loves winter most because she always hopes for snow and the chance to build snowmen, plus she really loves Christmas. Her second favourite season is Spring as she looks forward to the annual Easter egg hunt in her granny’s garden.

  8. My favourite season is summer! We relax, spend time in the sun, eat ice cream and swim. It’s also my birthday in the summer!
