This term, we have been learning all about the amazing sculptor Barbara Hepworth. We found out what it means to be a sculptor and how artists work with shapes and materials to create art you can see from all sides! We also learned about the Modernism movement and looked at lots of Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures. We had fun sharing our ideas about what her artwork might mean and how it made us feel.

After exploring her work, we had a go at being artists ourselves! We used pencil and charcoal to sketch some of her sculptures, paying close attention to shapes, lines, and shadows. Everyone worked so thoughtfully and showed great creativity. We’re really proud of the artwork we’ve created, and it’s been so much fun learning about sculpture and trying something new!
