Hello Class 4!
Every day a new maths challenge will be posted for you to try. These will be tricky so read the question carefully and think about each step.
You might have to do some working out on paper.
If you think you have found the answer, post it on the blog. Your answers will not appear until tomorrow so make sure you check back in to see if you got it right and to see who found the correct answer first.
Here is your maths challenge for the day:
The answers will be posted on tomorrow’s maths blog along with your next challenge!
Good luck!
From Miss Lee
The answer to the first question is 3 because…
4+6=10
10+2=12
12+4=16
16+1=17
And 17 is the number. The only number on the dice I haven’t used is the number 3.
Well done for having a go and explaining your working out!
I wonder if any one else agrees with your answer.
I will reveal the answer tomorrow so make sure you check then if you are correct!
For the second question, the answer is 1,2 because
5+6=11
11+4=15
15+15=30
And 30 is the number.
Speedy working out!
Let’s see if any one else agrees with your answer or has a different way of working it out…
on the first question the answer is 4 because ,
1 plus 2 =3
3 plus 3 =6
6 plus 4=10
10 plus 5=15
15 plus 6=21
21-4=17.
2nd question is 6
21 plus 21=42
42-6=36
36-6=30.
Well done for showing your working out! I wonder if anyone else will have the same answer? ?
1. 3 facing down, I counted each side.
2. Both dice had six facing down.
Thank you for your answers Ajay!
Check the blog to find out if you are correct tomorrow along with another maths challenge to solve! ??
Hi Miss Lee ?
My answer to the first question is:
6+1=7
5+2=7
14+3=17
So the number facing down is 4
And for the second question is:
The first and second dice have the same dots which I can see are:
5+4+2+3+1=15
So then 15+15=30
And the dots that is facing down for both dice is 6!
Well done Clare ?
Thank you for showing your working out clearly!
Check back tomorrow to see if you are correct!
Hello Miss Lee,
My answer to question 1 is… 4
Because 4 and 3 is 7
The other sides are 5 and 2 which =7
And last but not least 6 + 1 which = 7
Thank you
Great! Find out if you are correct tomorrow! Can you work out the answer to question 2?
Hello Miss Lee
The answer to question 1 is:
1+2+3+4+5+6=21=the total number of spots
17+4=21
the answer is 4
2nd question
42 is 21+21, it represents dots there is on the 2 dices
42-30= 12 it represents what is hidden
6+6=12 6 represents the number hidden under each dice
it can’t be 8 and 4, 9 and 3, 10, and 2, 11 and 1 as the max dots on a dice is 6.
So my answer is 6
Well done Martin! Very clear explanations, check tomorrow when the answer will be revealed!
1. I think the answer to the question is:
5+5=10
10+4=14
14+2=16
16+1=17
2. The answer to question two is:
5+6=11
11+4=15 I know the answer to this question is 15
because 1/2 of 30 is 15.The next answer will be 15+15=?
15+15=30
So the answer to the question is 1,2.
Well done for showing your working out! The answer will be revealed tomorrow, along with a new maths challenge!
And for number 2 , the answer is 6 because…
If you plus 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 the answer is 21 and you subtract it by 17
The answer is 4 ……
And thatโs my answer!
Thanks
Well done for explaining your working out!
4+2=6
6+4=10
10+1=11
11+4=15
15+1=16
16+2=18
This is what I think the answers are.
Well done for showing your working out Karter! Check today’s maths challenge to see the answers explained!
Dice Pairs: 1. 4 is the number that is face down
3+4=7 because 1+6=7 and 5+2=7, then 7+7=14,
5+2=7 and 14+3=17 and 4 is not used in this
1+6=7 equation.
2. 6 is face down on both dice, because 3+4=7 and 5+2=7, then 7+7=14 and 14+1=15 as the one each individual dice. 15+15=30 as the total score across both dice. 6 is the only number on a dice not used in this equation.
Hello Lucy!
Great that you are having a go from Australia!
Well done, you have explained your answer’s clearly! Check the next maths challenge for the answers! ๐
Ok, I think my answer to the second question might be wrong:(
Don’t worry! It is good to keep practising! ๐
Try the next maths challenge!
4 facing down and 6 facing up.
Well done Ciana!
For question 1 the number that faced down was the number 4.Here is my workings out;
6+5=11
11+3=14
14+2=16
16+1=17
For question 2 I think that the answer is “6” for each dice:
4+5=9
9+1=10
10+3=13
13+2+15
Add the second dice:
15+15=30
