Good morning Year 1!
Well done for all your excellent learning this week.
Today we are working on these pages:
Workbook: 1B (Orange book)
Chapter: 12
Pages: 42-44
We are continuing our learning of multiplication and we will also be looking at doubles today.
Doubling – To double a number you just need to add the same number to itself.
For example, 2+2 = 4 5+5 = 10
A nice doubling activity is this one:
Challenge:
Multiplication word problems. Pages 45, 46, 47
You might need to draw pictures and work them out on paper before you find the answer!
Morning Miss Travers, I have tried the maths
Page 42, 1b,
Page 42 2a 5 rows, 5 fours =20, there are 20 rings
2b 3 rows, 7 paper clips. 3 sevens = 21
2c. 4 rows, 6 biscuits . 4 sixes =24.
Page 44. 1. Double 2 =6. Double6=12
2. Double 4=8. Double 9=18.
I found challenges a bit more tricky but with some help and grouping think there are 15 people in canoes, 18 windows , 24 fish and 30 birds.
Well done! Yes the word problems are trickier! We will work more on these next week.
I enjoyed my Maths No Problem today. I found some of the doubling trickier, but liked finding equal rows!
That’s good to hear! We will go over doubling next week.
Remember it is adding the same number to itself like 2+2, 5+5, 6+6.
Another way to do it is if you paint some circles on one half of a piece of paper then fold your piece of paper in half it doubles!
