This term, our new topic is Back in Time to Ancient Britain!
During this topic, we will be learning about pre-historic Britain which is divided into 3 ‘ages’ known as the Stone Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
Each week you will have Curriculum homework which links to our topic posted on Google Classroom. You will be able to use the skills and knowledge from the homework in our lessons!
Your first homework tasks will be assigned from Monday 11th September.
To begin our topic, I would like you to have a look at this picture and answer the questions in the comments:
1. What do you think the people are doing in the picture?
2. What are they holding and wearing?
3. What would you like to find out about this picture?
I can’t wait to read them all and I am so excited to start this new topic with you!
1. They are farming: A boy and a woman are cutting crops. A woman is kneading dough and looking after her child. A man is cutting logs.
2. They are wearing animal skins and fur. They are holding hammers, logs and a sort of scythe.
3. What are they trying to make with all their hammers and logs? I would like to know if they will all eat the bread the woman is making or if the bread is just for one family?
1. In the picture people are carving out spearheads. 2. The people are holding axes, they are wearing the skins of the animals they’ve killed so far. 3. I want to know about how to make the Stone age People’s homes.
1. I think the people in the left corner are farming. The person in the middle is going to hunt for food with his pet wolf. The lady in the right corner is preparing food/bread as well as looking after her child. The people in the field are cutting grass/ harvesting their crop. There is a person inside the straw hut doing a job too. Every person seems to be working very hard.
2. They are all wearing animals hide/ fur to protect their bodies. The man with the axe on his shoulder is wearing an interesting pair of footwear to protect his feet on his journey. He has tied them with a twine. The farmers are using a scythe/ sickle like instrument to cut the grass.
3. I would like to know what kind of food they ate? Did they eat the animals they reared? How did they communicate with each other?
The scenery of their surroundings looks so beautiful. The air must have been so much cleaner than the modern world.
I think they are farming and building huts.
They are holding tools like hammers and cutting tool.
They wearing animal skin and fur.
I would like to know what is doing the lady with the pots and how they called the cutting of the grass.
In this picture I can see a women cooking dinner. The man and his dog are going to hunt some animals to eat, his clothes and shoes look like there are made from dead animal skin. The other people on the left are collecting food like nuts and berries. In the distance there are people making tools from stone. There are animals around which they will probably kill and eat one day.
I enjoyed the floating classroom, and I liked making the seed balls.
