Our new topic is ‘Celebrations’.
We have been talking about celebrations the children are already familiar with such as birthdays. In Religious Education we have been learning about Baptism. This week we learnt about Bonfire Night and next week we are learning about Remembrance Day. As the term goes on we will be learning about Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas.
We would love to hear about celebrations that your child has taken part in.
Some key questions to ask are:
What/who was the celebration for? Who was there? What happened? How did you feel?
Last year, I went to a Bonfire Night party in a park near my friend’s house. It was a very cold night and the ground was wet so we wore wellies, coats, hats, gloves and scarves. There was an enormous bonfire which helped to keep us warm and we also had delicious hot chocolate to drink. The firework display was amazing. It seemed to go on for ever and the sky was filled with coloured lights and the sounds of banging, crackling and whooshing. I had a fantastic time. I think Bonfire Night is one of my favourite celebrations.
