As you know, we have a wonderful Creative Curriculum at St. Vincent’s. Every year we review this to ensure that it is meeting the needs of our community. If you have any ideas about important people/ events that you would like to be covered more deeply in the curriculum, please include them here. We look forward to seeing your suggestions.
Steven Hawkins, a disabled scientist who invented many great things. He is known for discovering a lot about black holes. I think it is incredible that he is disabled, but still is a scientist! He truly inspires me and reminds me of how lucky we all are to be healthy in this school! 🙂
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist, who was made fun of because of the way she would make herself look like a boy in some of her self -portraits. She became disabled in a major car accident, but never gave up and became a famous artist although she had a disability. One of her many quotes is ‘Feet why do I need you when I have wings to fly .’
Harriet Tubman, Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou , Daisy Bates , Wangari Maathai and Anna Julia Cooper. These are some black females that you can choose to learn about throughout different topics.
I would really like to learn about Steven Hawkins and people who are in the Paralympics.
I would like to know how Steven Hawkins became disabled and how he changed the world.
I would really love to learn about Steven Hawking because he is a really good scientist although he has a disability.
