5. Write your answer on the blog
Your answers won’t be posted until the end of the day.
Q1:
The number you can’t see on the dice is 4.
Q2:
The number you can’t see on both dice is 6.
Well done for those who have added their answers. I will post everyone’s answers at the end of the day.
1) The number facing down is 4 because if you add up all the numbers on a dice it equals 21 and 21-17=4.
2)The numbers facing down are 6 and 6 because the numbers on two dices add up to 42 and 42-30=12 and the only two numbers that
add up to 12 on a dice are 6 and 6.
Challenge 1
I worked it out by doing
6+1=7
5+2=7
4+3=7 then you do
3×7=21 then
21-17=4 then plus all the numbers but not four
1+2+6+5+3=17
Challenge 2
I worked it out by doing
21+21=42
42-30=12 then I divide it by 2 because there are two dices
12 divided by 2=6 then
21-6=15
21-6=15
15+15=30

Clue for Question 1:
The total number of dots on one dice is 21.
You score 17.
Which number is face down?
Clue for Question 2:
The total number of dots on two dice is 42.
You score 30.
Which two numbers are face down?
1. down face is 4.
21-4=17
2. Down faces are 6
42-30=12
12/2=6
1. Number 4.
21-17=4
2. Numbers 6
1. The total on a dice is 21
My score is 17
21-17= 4
The face down is 4
2. The total on a dice is 21
The total with 2 dices is 42
42-30 = 12
So the 2 faces down are the 6
Well done everyone for having a go at today’s challenge! I will post the answers in tomorrow’s Maths challenge just incase more of Year 3 want to have a go this evening!
1. The number is 4, because 4 sides equal to 14. So 17-14=3 So the top number is 3 . And as opposite numbers equal 7 the bottom one is 4 because 7-3=4.
2. The numbers that are facing down are 6, because each opposite side equals 7. So 7+7+7+7 =28 as the total score is 30, all is left is 2. Because there are two dice, 2:2=1. So the top number is 1 and the bottom is 6 (7-1=6).
Q1. It is 4 because 21-17=4
Q2. We are using 2 dices so 21×2=42
42-30=12
Because 12 is total number of dots on two dices we need to devide it on half.
12/2=6
Down face is 6.
On question 1 you can’t see 4. I worked this out by testing it with all the other numbers. On question 2 you can’t see 6 and 6. I worked this out by adding up all the numbers on both dice and minusing 30 to get 12 I then saw which 2 numbers equal 12 to get 6 and 6.
Great effort with your answers everyone.
The answers will be displayed in today’s new challenge!
Who will post the answer first?!
Q2
Because all together of one dice is 21.so two dice will be 42 .then you do 42-30=12 then 12÷2=6
answer 6 you can’t see
Q1.
1+2+3+4+5+6 = 21 21 = sum of all dots
21-4=17 so four is facing downwards
answer=4.
Q2.
21+21=42 = 42 is the sum of all dots on the two dice
42-30=12 12 divided 2 = 6 so 6 is facing down
the answer for both dice = 6.
