Good Morning Year 6!
Congratulations to Jade and Javier who were the first people to answer correctly yesterday! Great work you two!
The correct answer was:
Mrs Choy bought:
10 large eggs at 50p each,
10 medium eggs at 10p each,
80 small eggs at 5p each.
Were there any other combinations that were right?
Here is your Maths Challenge for today!
Use your Home Learning Book to complete your workings out and then write your answer below so I can see it.
Tomorrow morning, I will approve the answers and reveal who completed the challenge first!
Good luck!
Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy 🙂
Zoe, Luke, Ali and Holly
God morning Miss Gorick,
Here are my answers
Ali Holly Ben Zoe will play.
Good morning miss gorick and mrs Healy,
I think Zoe,Luke, holly and Ali played tennis.???
Luke, Zoe, Holly and Ali will play tennis.
Two boys= Ali and Ben
Two girls= Holy and Zoe
Zoe, Holly, Luke and Ali
Ali, Luke, Holly and Zoe play ? tennis ?
As Ben said he won’t play if Luke or Laura play this leaves Luke and Ali playing, then because Ali will only play if Holly is playing holly has to play and Luke says he will only play if Zoe plays and Zoe doesn’t mind.
Good Morning Miss Gorick!
Ali, Holly, Luke and Zoe will play.
Zoe and Laura are the 2 girls that play and Luke and Ben are the 2 boys.
Luke, Zoe, Ali and Holly (if Ali is a boy).

Just checking to make sure I order the right ones!
Morning Charles 🙂 Yes those are the two books I recommend. We started using the ‘advanced’ book at school, so you may recognise a few of the pages. However, we only used in the last few weeks so we didn’t do much!
Also, make sure that the answers are at the back of the book, I think in these two books they are. Hopefully they will arrive soon!
Holly and Ali are the two girls
Luke and Zoe are the two boys
Ali, Holly, Luke and Zoe
Good morning!
Luke and Ali = boys
Zoe and Holly = girls
Hi Mrs Gorick
Is there any other method to solve yesterday problem than using algebra?
If so could you please let us know ?
Thanks
Hi Paloma, mainly it was a ‘trial and error’ problem using multiplication and addition. You needed to convert £10 to p which which is 1000p.
Then you knew you had to make 1000 using the 3 amounts (50, 10 and 5).
1000 is divisible by 50, 10 and 5 which makes it easier!
I hope that helps 🙂
Thanks
2 boys: Luke and Ali
2 girls: Holly and Zoe

Hi Miss Gorick I just wanted to know if Ali was a girl or boy
if Ali is a boy, then the answer is Ali, Luke,Zoe and Holly
Good afternoon Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy?,
Boys=Ali and Luke played
Girls= Zoe and Holly played
Miss Gorick I’m finding this tricky can you explain on how to do it.
Hi Aryan, thank you for getting in touch.
On a first glance, this can seem like a challenging question but let’s have a look!
So there are 6 children who want to play tennis but only 4 children can (2 boys and 2 girls). If you read each statement, there are certain children who won’t play with others/will only play if other children are playing.
So you have to use trial and error (write it out in your Home Learning book!) and make sure you read each statement to check if your answer is correct or not.
Good luck 🙂
Hi miss(and everyone):),
Boys:
Ali and Luke
Girls:
Zoe and Holly
Thankyou !
I think I may have found the answer.
The girls that are playing are Holly and Zoe and the two boys are Ali and Luke.
Well done Elly 🙂 I saw your message, you didn’t have to worry as you were right!
