Today’s task: Listen to the story and then talk about the days of the week. You could tell us the days of the week in order, say what happened each day in the story or tell us about what you’ve been doing this week.

  1. Miss Siswick!!!On Monday , he found a beanstalk; on Tuesday, he planted it; on Wednesday, he watered it; on Thursday, he sprayed it; on Friday, he picked up slugs and worms; on Saturday, he mowed it; on Sunday, he waited. And a very long time ago it grew and grew and grew.
Adelaide can say the day in a row (Monday to Sunday) but it’s less easy to say it if I ask her what day is after Tuesday for instance. Will work on that too…

  2. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Adelaide. You can say the days of the week in order. Can you sing the days of the week*song that we sing at Nursery to your parents? This might help you to say the day that comes next.

*”Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday too. 1234567 days, each day different and every day new.”??

  3. Mrs Knowler says:

I had a problem remembering which day came after which when I was a little girl Adelaide. Don’t worry.

  4. Last Saturday, we watched Aristocats. Hermine loved it
On Sunday, we watched Father Christopher for the Sunday mass
On Monday, Hermine “skyped” her grandparents
On Tuesday, Hermine made some bread with her mother
On Wednesday, Hermine went for a walk in Hyde Park for a bit of exercise
On Thursday, Hermine played with the Playmobil with her sister Gabrielle
On Friday, Hermine wrote about what she did over the past week.

  5. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Hermine. What a busy week you’ve had!

  6. Mrs Knowler says:

I bet the bread you made was yummy and made your house smell lovely Hermine.

  7. James’ favourite days of the week are the weekend because we get play around.
James is still having trouble remembering the whole week in order but always gets fri, sat, sun correct.

  8. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, James. I love that you know the days of the weekend in order because that’s your favourite time!

  9. We sang the nursery rhyme “Monday’s child is fair of face, Tuesday’s child is full of Grace…” through to the child that is born on the Sabbath day. Though we had to explain that Grace was actually born on a Monday (and not Tuesday being full of Grace!). She understands the Sabbath day is a Sunday now.

  10. Miss Siswick says:

You are fair of face, Grace! I was born on a Wednesday (Ash Wednesday) a long time ago but I don’t think I’m full of woe, luckily!

  11. Mrs Knowler says:

Grace that’s two things we have in common. I was also born on a Monday and we both love curry!!

  12. Dear all,

“On Monday Jasper found a bean then he planted it on Tuesday in the soil. On Wednesday, he watered his beanstalk. On Thursday he dug, raked, spayed and hoed his plant. On Friday night he picked up all the slugs and snails and on Saturday he mowed it. The he waited and waited and waited and waited. Then Jasper dug it out and said that” this bean will never make a beanstalk”. Then at last it grew. Now Jasper is looking for giants.”

    Greetings

  13. Mrs Knowler says:

Anna what a great re-telling of the story. Good girl.

  14. Miss Siswick says:

Wow, Anna. You know the book off by heart! Well done.

  15. Hello Nursery,

Monday I played pooh sticks in the river with Saoirse and mummy. Sometimes our sticks got stuck and didn’t move.
Tuesday I watched the Trolls DVD.
Wednesday I played mums and dads with Saoirse.
Thursday Saoirse and I played horsey in the fields.
Today I am thinking about what I did all week for my homework.

  16. Miss Siswick says:

You’ve had a busy week too, Fiadh. I bet it’s lovely being able to play in the fields.

  17. Mrs Knowler says:

Pooh Sticks reminds me of Stick Man Fiadh. Oh no, I’m going to cry again!!

  18. Esmeralda says:

    Good morning Miss Siswick
    On Monday he found something
On Tuesday he planted it in a hole
On Wednesday he watered it and he waited for longer
    On Thursday he waited again
On Friday snails and slugs eat plants that why you have to keep them at home
    On Saturday he mowed it
On Sunday he waited for and hours and hours
On Monday he dug it up
After Monday he sat…wait and wait
    Finally it grew on Thursday

Giants live high up in the clouds

She made a comparison between our house (which is a flat) to her granny’s house (who has a garden)
So she said that Granny can grow plants in her garden, and go up in the clouds to meet the Giant.

  19. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Esme. Do you think Granny would like that?

  20. Mrs Knowler says:

Esmeralda I wonder whether the giant has a Granny too?

  21. On Monday I had a ‘Fruit Party’.
On Tuesday we went to the park to exercise and played football.
On Wednesday I planted the flowers.
On Thursday I went to the shop with daddy to pick up the vitamins.
On Friday morning I was exercising and in the afternoon I went to the park to play football with my family.

  22. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Caspian. I love the sound of a fruit party!

  23. Mrs Knowler says:

So much exercise Caspian, that’s so important.

  24. Dear Miss Siswick,

After we listened to the story Nicolas said: “but looking for giants is really dangerous”.

    Nicolas said:
On Monday Jasper found a bean. On Tuesday he planted it. On Wednesday he watered it. On Thursday he dug and raked it. On
Friday night he picked up slugs and snails. On Saturday he mowed. On Sunday he waited and waited. Then he dug it up and threw the bean away. Then he said this bean will never make a beanstalk, but then it grew and grew and grew. Now Jasper is looking for giants.

Nicolas got upset that he could not write, so he was allowed to put some pictures of his choice in the blog: ????

    Greetings,
    Nicolas

  25. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Nicolas. Thank you for the pictures that you chose.

  26. Mrs Knowler says:

You’re right Nicolas. Looking for giants is dangerous. Jasper is very brave.

  27. My beanstalk is medium. I like all days. I jump on the trampoline and read my pooping dinosaur books.

  28. Miss Siswick says:

I’m glad you like all the days, Joey. Happy Easter to you and your family.

  29. Mrs Knowler says:

  31. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Ania. You’ve had a fun week. I’m glad you enjoyed the story and singing the song.

  32. Mrs Knowler says:

I wish you were allowed to come here and sort my laundry out Ania. It’s a mess!!
