Hello everyone! Tom here! I heard that you read all about my adventure to the North Pole to rescue my dad! Well, before I go on our next adventure I want to take my dad to the seaside! Miss Travers and Miss Lee tell me you have been learning all about British seasides so I wondered if you can help me! You see, I want to take a lovely picnic for me and my dad to have at the seaside but I don’t have anything to carry the picnic in. I need something that will be strong enough to hold the picnic but also something that stops the seagulls stealing our lunch! Can you help me?
Tom wants us to design something for him to carry his picnic in and I think we can do it! Sometimes people carry picnics in picnic baskets and this is a good starting point for us!
Your task is to design a strong picnic basked for Tom and his dad. Think about the shape of your basket and the colour of your basket. You might want to add some sort of lid to stop the seagulls from eating some of Tom’s picnic!
You could use this design template or draw and label your design in your books.

When you have finished your design, send in a photo of it so that Tom can see! If you would like to make your basket using materials that you have at home please do and send in a photo of that too!
