Our new topic for the Summer Term is SUPERHEROES! Everyone loves superheroes, whether they are well known comic book heroes or real life heroes. I’m sure you’ll remember all the superheroes that the teachers came dress up as for World Book Day this year!
For your DT project, I would like you to try to create a ‘Pop-up Superhero’. You can choose your favourite superhero and use one of the different methods to make them pop up when you open the card. Have a look in the photo gallery below for instructions on how to make different types of pop up.
I think the best method is the box method as you can make your superhero be at the front and create an exciting background for them, or, if you’re feeling really creative, try the rotating fold so that your superhero can fly!
If you know lots of superheroes, you may like to make a book about them, sticking all your cards together to make a big Pop-up Superhero Book. Your superheroes can be fictional ones like Spiderman or Wonderwoman, real life ones like Florence Nightingale or a fire fighter, or one that you want to make up!
Tell us on the blog who your superhero is and which fold you are using to make them pop up. Then send in a photo of your finished work so that we can all see it!
A brilliant pop up Marie, well done for using the spring fold to make your superhero stand out! I love your glittery background as well!
Well done Rex, that is a wonderful pop up of Iron Man! I love how you adapted the folds to create your own way of making it pop up – very creative!
My Super hero is Wonder woman. I used the lift-the-flap pop-up method.
What brilliant pop ups you have all made! I’m so impressed that you managed to make them by following the instructions. See if you can make more to create a pop-up superhero book!
Sorry we didn’t get to finish this today – we’ll have a go tomorrow ! Thanks
Good morning, Miss Carruthers. I finished the pop up card . I have a question to ask you : why aren’t we allowed to upload films?
I’m not sure why you can’t upload videos. If you’ve made one, you can email it to the office and then they will send it to me.
Marisa – your picture didn’t send correctly, it only sent me Elly’s work. Please could you send it again.
Dear Miss Carruthers, how do we send pictures of our DT work?
Hi Gabi! You can email it to the office or click on this link to see the school news post with instructions for how to upload on the website. https://www.stvincentsprimary.org.uk/news/sharing-photos-and-files/
Well done all of you. These are fantastic. What a huge amount of time and effort you have put into your work!
