Good morning Year 6,

I hope you had a lovely weekend!

First, re-read: Monstrous Devices_ PROLOGUE

Here is your task for today:

Make sure that you reference or quote the text in your responses, backing up your answers.

After reading this, can you write your own paragraph including the words ‘mockingly’ or slivery’?

If you wish, you can read ahead to Chapter 1: Monstrous Devices_ CHAPTER 1

What have you been reading? Please comment on our Reading blog to share your recommendations!

I look forward to reading your responses.

  1. 1) Beckman was shabbily dressed. But he wore a scarf round his neck.
    2) Happily
    3) A jewel or amulet that is special to him because he doesn’t let go of it.
    4) anxious because he doesn’t know whether they will give him mercy or do something bad to him.

  2. Mrs Avdiu says:

Well done Nina. Have you tried the extension? What have you been reading lately?

  3. Ariellaa@b.com says:

does the paragraph have to be based to the book ?

  4. Mrs Avdiu says:

It can be but doesn’t have to be 🙂

  5. Hello miss Avidiu I have recently been reading ‘Kensuke’s kingdom’ by Michael Morpurgo.

All of the others mockingly laughed and jeered at me. Just because i liked Lego.

  6. Mrs Avdiu says:

Phew! For a minute there, I thought your made up sentence was something that happened to you. He he! That’s a great book Tim. Are you enjoying it?

  7. Hello Mrs Avdiu,
    1) Bright-yellow-with-black-polka-dots silk scarf
    2) B: sarcastically
3)Beckman has tape on his nose because as it says in the text that he was packing a present for a little girl in Germany this shows why he had tape on his nose.
    4) I think it is a key because it says it is small saver and sharp which are all the key properties of a key. I think Beckman has a key to give to the girl or to the tall man so they can figure out their problem that they had. It may be the explanation to why he did not do something.
    5) I think Beckman is feeling scared as in the text it shows that he stumbles on most of his words.

  8. Mrs Avdiu says:

Well done Elly! Have you tried the extension?

  9. Here is my sentence,
The ganged up girls keep on mockingly laughing at me because I love maths, the head of the gang is a girl with silvery hair and eyes.

  10. Mrs Avdiu says:

Well done Elly. Check the comma in there. Should it be a comma…?
