Good Morning Year 2!
Click here for a printable version of this blog post: English Tuesday printable
Well done for your brilliant work on purple crayon yesterday! I love how imaginative you were with what else could be coloured in purple.
Today we’re going to write some commands. Do you remember what they are? They are a special type of sentence that is very bossy! Rather than being polite and asking nicely, you start the sentence with the verb to sound bossier. The fancy word for the bossy verb is an imperative verb.
This BBC Bitesize page has a good video and quiz to help you understand it more.
Have a go at this activity:
When you write your commands, I want you to take care with your capital letters and full stops – you can’t forget them! Command sentences don’t usually have lots of adjectives, they are much more direct.
*If you want a challenge, can you write your different commands into a little story rather than 5 separate sentences?
Don’t wear my football boots!
Take my favourite football shirt with us on holiday.
Stop doing that, it’s annoying!
Put your rubbish in the bin.
Ask to go to the toilet.
Excellent commands Vincent! Well done.
I don’t think you’d like anyone wearing your football boots Vincent!
Dear Miss Carruthers,

2.Take you’re bowl to the sink.
3.Stop running ?♀️ in the grass it’s getting cold ?.
4.Put the bucket down.
5.Ask daddy if he wants to go with us to the church ⛪️.
Brilliant Marie, very good commands. Have a look at number 3 – between the words ‘grass’ and ‘it’s’, you should have a conjunction that joins these two clauses together. What could you use?
1. Don’t you dare eat ? my cake ?!!!
2. Take your LOL dolls to the park ? !!!
3. Stop going to bed ? so late!!!
4.Put your Polly Pocket toys in your bedroom ? and play with them there!!!

You need to take my clothes because you are stretching too much!
You have to ask my dad to turn the light of after he finishes going to the toilet and to flush the toilet because it will stink.
Don’t look into my desk because it is private and it is rude.
Well done Marisa. I think you have been a little bit too polite in your second and third sentences, try and be more bossy! Start the sentence with the bossy word.

2. Take my light green instaed.
3. Stop following me !

Excellent Madeleine, well done for writing two sentences for each command word.
Once upon a time there lived a little girl called Ida. She had two sisters named Hanna and Magda. They quarrelled a lot. One day Magda borrowed Hanna‘s precious snow globe without asking. When Hanna went home from practising her magic in the forest, she saw that her globe was missing! She thought:“Maybe one of my sisters took it?“ She turned around to look. She saw that Magda had taken her globe! „Don‘t touch that! Put it down! Take the globe back into my room!“ Hanna said upset. „Stop taking my things!“ „Sorry“, apologised Magda, „I only wanted to practise my magic on it“. „That‘s ok, Hanna said, „ but next time ask first before you take my globe!“ They hugged each other and went to the kitchen to have some cake ? with their other sister Ida. The end.
A brilliant little story Sophia, well done! I love how bossy you made Hanna. We can all definitely get a little bossy when we’re upset!
