Good Morning Class 4!

Today we are looking at some spelling and handwriting. All of our spellings are from the Year 3 and 4 Spelling List.
For some fun games to learn how to spell the words from this list click on the link below:

https://www.spellzone.com/word_lists/games-5454.htm

Below is a list of spelling words.

1.) Please practise these at home in your yellow home learning book. You could write them in your book using look, cover, say and write. Or you could read the list of words and ask someone at home to test you on them.

2.) On the blog, write a definition for two of these words.

3.) On the blog write two sentences using two different words from the list.

When you are writing your spellings in your home learning book:

Ensure your letters are on the line.
Make sure your letters are the right size (tall letters are tall and small letters are small).
Make sure there is an appropriate sized space between each word (sometimes called finger spaces).
Try to join up your handwriting in each word.

Challenge:
Can you write a paragraph using all of the spelling words above?

Good luck!

  1. Oposite- there might be something infront of you so this means that you are oposite that person.

Natural- grass, trees and maby a lake is natural. Natural can also be some thing that God made.

  2. Well done Ella!

  3. Anonymous says:

Do we have to do the challenge?

  4. No, the challenges are just there if people would like something extra to do! ?

  5. naughty – if you are breaking rules or being bad behaved

opposite – is when you are doing the different thing from the other person.

  6. Good, remember capital letters and punctuation!

  7. Natural: not made or caused by humankind.
Naughty: (especially of a child) badly behaved; disobedient.

The boy who lives next door often comes home late.
If she asked, a mirror would appear on the opposite wall.

I think that it is very natural for a child to be naughty, though perhaps occasionally. If you do a particular thing too often that isn’t ordinary then it might become quite peculiar!

  8. Ordinary- normal
    Natural- not artificial ???☘️?
    Artificial- man made ?

  9. Well done, can you write some sentences?

  10. Hello everyone, how are you all feeling today? Hope that none of you are not too bored!!!!!

I decided to challenge myself to write the definitions of all of the words and to write sentences with all of the words.

Here are the definitions that I wrote using all of the words:

    – natural – produced or done by nature/person who is good at something.
    – naughty – badly behaved.
    – notice – something printed for people to read/to see something.
    – often – many times.
    – opposite – placed on the other side/an opposite person or thing/an opposite position or direction/opposite to.
    – occasion(ally) – sometimes but mot often.
    – ordinary – normal or usual.
    – particular – only this one and no other.
    – peculiar – strange or unusual
    – perhaps – possibly

Here are the sentences that I wrote using all of the words:

    – natural – The sun is a natural light.
    – naughty – My brother is sometimes naughty.
    – notice – There are normally quite a lot of notices outside police stations.
    – often – I often have scrambled eggs for breakfast.
    – opposite – The opposite of happy is sad.
    – occasion(ally) – I am occasionally late for school.
    – ordinary – During this health crisis, I am longing to have a life more ordinary.
    – particular – Can you give me the particulars of the case?
    – peculiar – There is a peculiar smell in here.
    – perhaps – Perhaps we could go outside when it stops raining.

    Challenge:

It is only natural that mothers love their often naughty and occasionally peculiar children. Perhaps they don’t notice their particularly bad behaviours and only see the opposite. I think that it is ordinary behaviour.
( With help from parents only on challenge questions).

  11. Wow! You have been working hard this morning!
I hope we are soon back to our ordinary lives too!
Your paragraph is great and made me laugh!

  12. today is an ordinary day. my cat is a very naughty pussy.

  13. Well done, don’t forget capital letters!

  14. Definitions:

Naughty- means to do something wrong.
Notice- to see something that you haven’t seen before.
    TASK THREE:

This is very peculiar, I don’t remember seeing a birds nest in that tree.
    CHALLENGE:
This is very natural. A child being naughty.I did not notice this before. My own sister, who is often very good, is being very bad. She is never the opposite of good. The worst thing is, this was on a particular day. This day, was a special occasion. You know how you occasionally enjoy your own birthday? Well, my sister didn’t, and this wasn’t ordinary. This was really peculiar. I mean, she cried because the cake was vanilla and not chocolate. She opened all her presents and didn’t even say thank you. She would scream and cry when a person left. This was very bad. Perhaps she did not get enough sleep.
