Good Morning Year 2!

Click here for a printable version of this blog post: Tuesday History printable

I’m glad you enjoyed the start of our topic last week, learning about the different countries in the UK.

Today we’re going to think about the monarchs of Great Britain. Does anyone know what a monarch is?

A monarch is the ruler of a country. So our current monarch is Queen Elizabeth II. The II means “the second”, and we need it because there was another Queen Elizabeth many years ago so we need to tell them apart!

Click on this BBC Bitesize link if you want to find out about some of the famous monarchs and leaders that we have had in the past in Great Britain.

Our queen is very important to us. She has been Queen of Great Britain for longer than anyone else – 68 years!

To celebrate our queen, I would like you to create a picture of her. You can do this in any way that you would like, have a look at some suggestions below for ideas:

You could make a coin that has her face on.

You could make a collage of her.

You could use your colouring pencils to make a drawing of her.

You could paint a picture of her.

You could make your own stamps!

Whichever you choose to do, make sure you try and make it as life like as possible. And think about the background of your pictures as well. I can’t wait to see your artwork!

    I thought you might!

  17. My mum found this print under “How to draw Queen Elizabeth 2”. I didn’t have a purple pencil so I thought blue was a good colour to use because I think the queen would like to wear blue.

My favourite video was Boudicca because she was a fierce warrior.

  18. Miss Carruthers says:

    Boudicca was very fierce indeed!
I think the Queen would like to wear blue too – she often wears bright colours 🙂

  19. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Gabi! What a great drawing 🙂
