Good morning year 5,
Today we will be revisiting addition and subtraction by looking at how to add and subtract within one million.
Have a look at the problem below which requires us to use both addition and subtraction to compare the taxi fees. Ask yourself why you need to use more than one operation to solve the problem? This is because we need to add together the amounts within each day before subtracting from another day.
The answer to the final problem is 111 000. He spent 111 000 rupiah more on the 16th Sep than on the 14th Sep.

I’ve done the extension work and I’ve been doing the extension work the whole week. There never seems to be any answers for the extension work so I’m not sure if I’m doing it right or not.
Well done Regan! I’m pleased to hear that you have been challenging yourself. I think that some of them have the answers on them at the bottom of the sheet. I’ll check with Mrs Avdiu and see if she can post the answers so that you can mark them yourself 🙂
