Workbook: 6B
Chapter: 10 Area and Perimeter
Lesson: 3, 4, 5 (Area of triangles)
printer-friendly version: Tuesday maths blog
Good morning Year 6!
Today we will be looking at the area of triangles.
Have a look at the demonstration of how each question is answered below:
To calculate the area of a triangle, multiply the height by the width (this is also known as the ‘base’) then divide by 2.
Example: Find the area of a triangle where height = 5 cm and width = 8 cm.
5 × 8 = 40 ÷ 2 = 20
The area is 20cm².
Please watch this video: BBC Bitesize: How do you work out the area of a triangle?
After you have completed the worksheets, consolidate your learning here:Calculating-The-Area-of-Triangles
Then, why not try the extension Area-of-triangles?
Please write in the comments if you have any questions.
Good luck!
