Well done for all your work this week! It is so important that we are confident with these skills as we will develop them further throughout your time at school. Now that we are confident with our place value, see if you can solve this problem:

See if you can make all 6 of the possible 2-digit numbers using just 4, 5 and 6.

Have a good at Review 1 in your workbooks. Remember to use the website if you have already completed some pages.

If you want a bit more practise, then go through any of the pages from Chapter 1. Go back through the lessons from this week and try and of the other activities for more chances to practise.

If you feel like you have got a really good grasp on your place value understanding, then here are some fun challenges for you to try to solve:

  3. I did Review 1 in my workbook, and I did the mind workouts you set in my yellow book. These are my answers:
    The greatest 2-digit number is 65.
    The smallest 2-digit number is 45.
    Two more 2-digit numbers: 56, 46.
    Numbers in order: 45, 46, 56, 65.
    All possible numbers: 45, 46, 56, 65, 54, 64.
    Number square – the shaded numbers together is 76.
    Ken’s two numbers are 85 and 29.
    24+5<24+6
    18+3=17+4
    33+15=40+8
    The difference between Meg's number and Sam's number is 40.

    That’s because it isn’t called lesson 7 in the workbook, just the text book – sorry! It is the mind workout on page 20 and then try the Review on the next few pages.

    I finished all my maths for the day, including the bitesize ones. The hardest one was the problem about Ken with the 4 cards and I had to look at the answers Rex put up to figure it out.

  33. I found the answers using my fingers and it was fun.
    My dad marked it and I got one wrong but he showed me how to do it.
