Today’s Maths
Workbook: 2B
Chapter: 11 Two-Dimensional Shapes
Lesson: 1, 2 & 3, Identifying sides, vertices and lines of symmetry.
Links: Lesson 1 Lesson 2 Lesson 3
During our time at school, we did lots of 2D shapes. Remember that these shapes are flat shapes. We learnt key vocabulary that is used to describe them: sides, vertices and symmetry.
Sides: the edge of a shape
Vertices: (one vertex, many vertices) A corner – The point at which two or more edges of a shape meet.
Symmetry: A shape is symmetrical if it is identical on either side of a line dividing it into two parts.
Work through these three worksheets to remind yourselves of the properties of 2D shapes and how to identify them. Don’t forget to check the answers and mark them with your grown ups.
*If you have found this tricky, then have a look at this BBC Bitesize page that has videos and a quiz to help you!
*If you have completed your work, you may like to explore this lesson, taught by Oak Academy, that goes over how identify 2D shapes and has a fun quiz at the end.

Morning Miss Carruthers
I did the MnP Chapter 11 up to worksheet 4! I really enjoyed it. I got to wrong but it’s ok because I got everything else correct. I drew some of the geometric shapes on my graph paper.
Albert
All done.
I thought you might like this activity Albert. You have been busy. Well done!
I understand it and liked doing it.
I finished the worksheets and did the bitesize and oak academy quiz. It was easier than clocks last week.
Worksheets completed. Had to review the names of 3D.
Well done everyone! I’m glad you found 2D shapes okay!
I think I did well in maths today.
PS from dad: we are doing a little bit of catch up… I’ll take him through last week’s exercises in the coming days.
PPS apologies for all lack of modesty above.
No worries, I can imagine that home life is a bit busier now!! Well done Finley!
I am going to do some work after lunch.
Well done Rafael. Let us know how you get on.
Dear miss Curruthers,
I have did my maths blog homework and it was quite easy. I also went through the Oak Acadamy Maths lesson.
Hi Miss,
I found the maths lessons about shapes really fun today and now doing the quiz.
Bye, Bo
Miss,
It looks like 1, 2 worksheets were already completed at school (identifying sides, vertices)
Worksheet 3 (lines of symmetry) has not been completed and I have finished my math for today 🙂
Yes but it is good to practise it again. Try to do the questions again and write them in your Home Learning Book. If you want more practise, try Oak Academy lesson.
All done, enjoyed doing it
Brilliant!
Thanks we completed the worksheets and the Oak Academy lesson?
Dear Miss Carruthers,
I finished my homework and it was ok.
Hi Miss Carruthers,

All done Miss!
We completed the worksheets and Oak Academy quiz earlier today.
Excellent work everyone!
Great work everyone!
