This week we are jumping around in our Maths No Problem workbooks to practise lots of different types of word problems.
We’re getting really good at out calculation skills, and this week I want us to apply these to solving lots of problems. Today we are focussing on addition and subtraction word problems. Quite often we’ll have to do column method to find out the answer, but you can also count forwards and backwards if that helps you.
Don’t forget to actually do the Guided Practise in the Textbook, rather than jumping straight into the Workbooks! I’ve put the pages here so you definitely can’t miss them!
Remember to use CUBES to help you understand what to do in order to answer the question correctly.
As there is only one worksheet today, try this White Rose Maths lesson to help consolidate what we have been learning. Click on Summer Term Week 4 and try any of the lessons.
If you want to challenge yourself and do some more word problems, see if you can solve these ones:
You may want to use column method to solve them, but if you want some support, use a 100 square or these number lines to help you work out the answer.
This next picture has all the answers, so this is for adults only or for when you have finished solving all the questions. No cheating now…!
Let me know how you got on with all the problems and whether you managed to do the White Rose Maths lessons or the challenge questions. Good luck!
