Well done for working out the link between multiplication and division. This will hopefully help you today when we’re working out division questions.

There are two types of division questions: grouping and sharing. Both use your understanding of division but you use a different method to get to the answer. But here is a secret…you’ll get the same answer whichever way you do it! So practise both and then you can use whichever you prefer until you are confident to rely on your understanding of the numbers.

Grouping example:

Sharing example:

Work through the textbook and then have a go at the worksheet.

Use the pictures to help you and then make sure you draw your own if they have given you space to. You can then write out your division number sentence using the boxes.

*If you are feeling confused about division, then you can go back through Chapter 4 and do any of the first 5 worksheets. Even if you have done them before at school, it will still be helpful to do them again so that you can feel even more confident.

*If you are feeling confident with division problems, then have a go at this:

  2. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Vincent. Are you feeling more confident about it?

  3. All done for today.

  4. Miss Carruthers says:

    Brilliant!

  5. I completed my worksheets but I only got two wrong.

  6. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Layla! Did you parents help you understand the ones you got wrong?

  7. Dear Miss Carruthers,

Maths done. I did the challenge.
    C= 5
    E = 9
    5 + 9 = 14
    14 divided by 2 = 7
    9 – 7 = 2
Ans: 2 she has to give him 2 marbles and they will both have 7 each.

  8. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done for explaining your method for solving the challenge so clearly.

  9. Marisa M says:

Hi miss I have finished my maths and it was really easy.

  10. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Marisa. Did you try the challenge question?

  11. Sophia B says:

    Dear Miss Carruthers,
I have finished the worksheets , it was not that hard.

There are 14 marbles, 14 ➗2 =7. So Emma should give Charles 7 marbles.

  12. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done for working through the worksheets and doing the challenge.

  13. Hi Miss. I have done my Maths.

  14. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Bo! Did you try the challenge question?

  15. Dear Miss Carruthers,

I finished the worksheets and they were ok. There were 14 marbles so 14 divided by 2 ( I can’t find the division symbol) is 7 marbles each.

  16. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done for explaining your method in words! (I don’t know where the division symbol is either…!)

  17. Emilia & Isabella says:

They should have 7 marbles each so Emma needs to give 2 more marble to Charles.

We finished all our worksheets too.

  18. Miss Carruthers says:

    Well done girls!

  19. Dear Miss Carruthers,
I have completed the worksheets. It was quite easy!

  20. Miss Carruthers says:

  21. Sophia P says:

    I finished my homework.

    Greetings from Sophia

  22. Miss Carruthers says:

    Well done!

  23. Catherine says:

    Dear Miss Carruthers,
I’ve completed the worksheet and the challenge. It was OK.
    Emma has 9
    Charles has 5
    9+5=14
    To share equally 14÷2 = 7
    9-7= 2
Emma has to give Charles 2 marbles.

  24. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Catherine. You’ve explained your working out really well.

  25. John and Rebecca says:

    Worksheets completed.

    John did the Challenge Question:
    Total marbles: 9 + 5 = 14
    Equal split: 14 / 2 = 7
    Emma: 9 – 7 = 2 marbles to give
    Charles: 7 – 5 = 2 marbles to take

  26. Miss Carruthers says:

    Well done you two!
I’m glad you tried the challenge John – well done for getting it right!

  27. I have completed it the work sheet and challenge.

  28. Miss Carruthers says:

    Excellent work Joshua, well done.
