Today is similar to yesterday except that we will be counting in 3s and 5s. Remember to keep trying to spot that pattern (especially when we are counting in 5s)
The tricky part can be working out what we are counting in. Have a look at the guided practise question below:
You need to work out the difference between 51 and 54. The easiest way is to count on to see the difference. You should find that the difference is 3, and so you can count on 3 to find all the missing numbers. The 69 card is there to help you. If you get 67 for the one before, and then count on 3, you’ll get 70 so you know you must have made a mistake somewhere.
Have a go at worksheet 6 and then you can work through these extra games and activities:
Similar to yesterday, get someone in your family to say any 1 or 2 digit number.
- Can you count in either 3s or 5s from that number? For example:
- Count in 3s, start at 2: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14
- Count in 5s, start at 2: 2, 7, 12, 17, 22
- Can you count backwards?
- Can they give you the start of a pattern and you have to work out what to count in (forwards or backwards) and then complete the number pattern.
Have a go at these two challenges. They are parts of different number squares (but not a full 100 square) so see if you can work it out:
