As a starter, complete the questions below in your Home Learning Book.
Dividing whole numbers into decimals-lesson 3
Don’t be put off by dividing a smaller number by a bigger number-just remember to add a decimal point and zeros and you’ll be fine! Use the picture belowto help remind you.
Make sure you check your workings out carefully to avoid making careless mistakes!
Writing Fractions as Decimals-Lesson 5
Use the picture to help you (apologies for my wobbly arrows!) as you go through the lesson and answer the Guided Practice.
In fractions, the numerator is the number above the line and the denominator is the number below.
The line in a fraction that separates the numerator and the denominator represents division.
To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator.
Support: This video may help remind you about division.

Hello Miss Gorick
could you help me with the extention challenge please? I do not get the question.
Hi Jeanne. Miss Gorick is at the Hub today so I’m going to try to help you! What part do you not understand? The way I see it, you need to put the numbers from 1-5 into a V shape so that the two ‘arms’ of the V equal the same amount. Both arms will use the middle number as well. So you could arrange them 1-2-3-4-5 (with 3 being the bottom number). The left arm would equal 6 (1+2+3) and the right arm would equal 12 (3+4+5). Obviously they are not equal so you would need to rearrange the numbers. Does that help?
