Sharing Equally

When you share a number you need to split it into equal parts.

3 toy cars fit into each box with no cars left over. The cars have been shared out equally.

Let’s look at an example question together…

First start by counting all of the toys.

There are 15 toys altogether. Then count how many shelves so we can see how many shelves we have to share 15 toys onto.

There are 3 shelves so we need to share 15 into 3 equal groups.

We can put 5 toys on each shelf with no toys left over.

Let’s look at another example together…

As you draw a doughnut in each box, cross it off to make sure you are sharing them equally. Just like this:

Once you have used all of the doughnuts, count how many in each box.
