Grouping and Sharing Equally

Remember when we group a number, we must make sure each group is equal.
That means there is the same number of objects in each group.

When we share things equally, it helps to count them out one at a time, like this:

    Dear Miss Lee

I can share the sweets into six groups of two, I can share them into two groups of six, I can share them into four groups of three and I can share them into three groups of four.

15 toys divided by 4 means that

3 people would have 4 toys and 1 person would only have 3 toys. Therefore 15 divided by 4 is not equal.

I have emailed a photo of my work.

    16 shared by 2 is 8 because

    8 x 2 = 16
