I loved hearing about your beanstalks in last week’s bean diaries. Please can you tell us how your beanstalk is doing this week.
If your beanstalk is still alive:
Can you see the roots?
How tall is the stem?
How many leaves are there?
If your beanstalk isn’t growing any more:
What does it look like now?
Why do you think it stopped growing?
My beanstalk is still growing but I can’t see the roots because they are hiding. There are two leaves and it is a little bit small. I love to see plants growing very big. My plant fits into mummy’s tea cup.
Good morning, Adelaide. I’m glad that your beanstalk is still growing. I’m sure it will get taller this week.
Our beanstalk is growing. We can see the roots at the bottom of the plastic glass. It has two large leaves, five very small leaves and one tiny bud at the top. It looks healthy. It is taller than the other plants we have on the window sill.
Hello, Grace. It sounds as if your beanstalk is growing well. I wonder if the tiny bud will be another leaf or the first flower.
We flooded our beanstalk so we planted other beans again.
We won’t put a lot of water this time. Just a little bit.
I hope this one grows, Leopold. Now we know that plants need a little bit of water every day not a lot all in one go!
Good morning
“My beanstalk is still alive.
Yes, I can see the roots.
The stem is very tall.
There are two leaves and two more to grow.”
Well done, Esme. Your beanstalk is getting very tall. I think that you should put a taller stick in there now and carefully wrap the stem around it so that it doesn’t bend and break.
My beanstalk is not growing. It looks not very good. I think we put too much water in at the beginning.
Greetings from Nicolas
I’m sorry, Nicolas ?. Have you tried growing something else instead?
roots: yes they are down near the bottom (ours is in a plastic cup)
stem: I am longer than the beanstalk
leaves: 2 is not a lot
(ours had an accident while moving a couple of days ago and the top was broken off which had two further small leaves)
Well done, James. I’m glad that the beanstalk survived its accident!
Good morning Miss Siswick, my beanstalk is still alive. I planted in the pot a little wooden stick so that my beanstalk would not bend too much. It has grown so high that I have to look for a taller wooden stick. There are four leaves, two very large ones and two smaller ones. I can also see the roots. I like looking at my beanstalk every morning to find how tall it has grown overnight.
Well done, Hermine. Runner beans love to wind around a tall stick and this helps them to keep growing.
My beanstalk is got one leaf and a bean and one root. The stem is tiny little bit tall. It will get taller and taller and taller and taller to get up to the ceiling.
It needed water and sun,
Is there anything else you could do to help it grow?
Give it soil
Well done, Philip. I’m glad that your beanstalk is growing well. I can’t wait to see a photo of it when it touches the ceiling!
well done nursery, what a lovely pictures….are the beanstalks ready for my dinner?
My beanstalk feels very good, it grows and growing. Two days ago my dad added more soil to it. It has nine leaves and some leaves are really bigs.I see the roots are really long.
Wow, Ania. Nine leaves! Your beanstalk is growing very well.
My beanstalk is still alive.
I can see the roots. My plant is now 30 cm tall.
There are two big leaves and two more to grow!
That’s a very tall plant, Rose. How many leaves will there be altogether?
My beanstalk is growing , i am taking good care of it and i like to water it.
Well done, Caspian. Remember to give it just a little bit of water every day. Some nursery children are feeling sad because they gave their beans too much water and they stopped growing.
My beanstalk is almost as tall as me now. It is even taller than my brother’s Lego Saturn V. (Pictures will follow).
It grew lots of leaves. At first it grew two large leaves, then three smaller ones, than another three and then another tiny three. Eleven leaves!! I think it will keep growing.
The roots look like yucky spaghetti.
It keeps falling over and we need lean it against something.
Well Nursery you won’t believe this. I got up this morning to check my beanstalk and I couldn’t get into my kitchen. I pushed and pushed and eventually I got in and saw the reason was because the beanstalk had grown right through the ceiling. I said sorry to the old lady upstairs, who was drinking tea in her pyjamas. Then I climbed up and up and up and up. When I got to the top I met the giant who made me a hot curry for breakfast. I am going back up there for dinner, he says we are having boiled egg and soldiers!!!
Ha, ha. Today is the day you can play tricks on people. April Fool! It’s not fibbing it’s just a fun story. My bean has started to grow but only a really tiny bit. I will take a photograph later. Yours look great. I will be buying more beans and different seeds for when we get back, to make up for the ones that didn’t grow.
Well done, Eloisa. The roots do look like spaghetti, don’t they? If you put a tall stick in the pot and carefully wrap the stem around it, it won’t fall over.
Hello Miss Siswick,
My beanstalk has grown. It is taller and it has two big green leaves. I
I am taller than my beanstalk!
Well done, Anna. You used the comparing language from the Maths task to describe your beanstalk.
That is Mrs Knowler’s bean plant, growing in the shadow of a Christmas tree! Why do you think it isn’t green?
Hello Nursery,
I can see the white roots at the side and bottom of my beanstalk. It has a third stem this week and a new leaf is starting to grow. I love giving it a little bit of water everyday. I don’t give it too much water anymore like I used to! I move it around the windows so it is in and out of the sun. It has grown a lot in 8 days when I first saw it grow.
Hello Miss Siswick,
Daddy and I planted a apple seed today ?. (Sophia planted one as well ?).
Have a nice Easter holiday,
Nicolas
