Today we are going to be learning about responding to positional language. This means talking about where something is compared to something else.
Here are some examples of positional language:
Today’s task: Choose somewhere safe that you are allowed to climb on such as the sofa or your bed.
Ask an adult to give you instructions such as, “Climb under the bed!” Try to do this as many ways as you can so that you can respond lots of positional language.
Challenge: If your adult asks, “Where are you?” can you use the positional language to say where you are?
I am looking forward to hearing about how you got on.
I am under the table, on the sofa.
The dragon is in the box.
Mum is in front of the table.
Thé cat jump over the box.
The mean knight is behind me.
( Between and next to still to practice)
Nicolas did very well according to Sophia. Both loved the game with Sophia telling him where to go in the bedroom/ bed and Nicolas answering. They are currently playing it the other way round with Nicolas giving the instructions. Thank you for another game which is lots of fun (Sophia is keen to do yesterday’s memory game with the toys later…)
Hello, I went ‘under’ the trampoline, ‘in’ the shower, ‘on’ the sofa and mummy went ‘in between’ the bins and she stood ‘in front of’ the plant pot and then ‘behind’ it. There is a wooden beam ‘above’ us. Then we discussed more options. My best is being ‘on’ the trampoline!
Good morning! I really enjoyed all these positions:
I sat on the step
I sat next to Maggie
I hid behind the sofa
I climbed over the stools
I squeezed between the cushions
I lay down in the buggy
I stood in front of the gate
I crawled under the tunnel
Good morning Miss Siswick, Hermine had a lot of fun playing with her doll Camille positioning her on the sofa. Camille ended up:
– on the sofa;
– in front of the sofa;
– under the sofa;
– between the sofas;
– behind the sofa;
– she jumped over the sofa and then she was so tired that she went in her bed!
Eloisa got her own fluffy kitty and put him in, on, under, over, and behind the box. Then the kitty lost interest and ran away. Perhaps he found the instruction to stay next to the box a bit confusing.
Victoire with her cousin Colombine went in front of the chair, under the table, between the armchairs, in the armchair and behind the armchair. They really enjoyed this game.
James went inside the paddling pool, to the side of the paddling pool, in front of the paddling pool, under the table (the paddling pool was too heavy,
He also went through the tunnel. I have attached the photos. He made me stand on top of the sofa.

Another great game. Adelaide followed the instructions well. She then used her own words when asked where she was (on the side, over, etc.).
