Good Morning, Nursery.
I am glad that you enjoyed playing the higher and lower game yesterday.
Today, we are going to see how many objects can fit into a shoe!
You will need; one of your shoes or slippers and lots of small objects, for example, Legos. blocks, very small toys, vehicles, figures or animals.
Choose which objects to fill the shoe with first. (These must be all the same, for example. all blocks)
Once the shoe is full, look at it together.
Each of you must estimate (guess) how many objects are in the shoe.
Take out the things one by one and count them as you do.
· How many objects were in the shoe?
· Did anyone guess the right number?
Repeat this as many times as you can using different items to fill the shoe. You should get better at estimating!

James thought 6 objects were in his slipper. It turned out to be 10. Next time he estimated 8 and was right. I was in the bathroom when he was putting objects in so no idea if he counted or not. Photos being sent.

The guessing was hard but the challenge was exciting for Caspian.
He had a big smile on the face when he learned what today’s math is about .

Ania had a great time. She filled her slipper a few times. We chose lego blocks and small animals. Ani managed to guess twice.

Sam said “this is fun!” He filled the shoe up with his animal toys and guessed that there would be 10 in there. He counted them out one by one and there was a total of 16 animals. Then he had a turn with Maggie’s slipper which was smaller than his shoe so could only fit 10 animals in it. It is difficult to guess how many animals are inside the shoe when you can’t see inside it 🙂

Alexander played the game and had fun with the activity. He had several turns and in some instances, was able to correctly guess the amount of lego blocks in the shoe.

Grace used one of daddy’s shoes. She stuffed as much as she could in without counting but unfortunately we only had different types of toys. Her guess was 10 and in fact there were 11…not sure if perhaps she did count after all?!
