Good Morning, Nursery.
Well done for your great Maths work yesterday.
Today, we are going to play a game to practice careful counting.
You need a cup, about ten coins and your number cards.
Sit with your back to your grown up so that you can’t see them or the cup.
One at a time, your grown up will drop some of the coins into the cup while you listen and count.
When they stop, can you turn around and say how many coins that you heard going in the cup? (This is harder than it sounds!)
Can you find the number card ?
Count the coins. Were you right?
Can you find the number card ?
Have lots of turns. Can you get it right three times in a row?
Swap places and test your grown up! Can they get it right three times in a row?
I am looking forward to hearing all about it.
Love from Miss Siswick.
PRINTABLE VERSION:N Maths Tuesday
Dear Miss Siswick,
Nicolas counted the coins which I dropped in the cup correctly (5,10,7) and found the corresponding number card with no difficulty. He is currently challenging Sophia (I.e. she had to guess how many coins he drops in the pot).
Greetings from us!
Good morning Miss Siswick,
One of Caspian favourite tasks so far , Caspian paid good attention and listened to the sounds and got it correctly 4 times .
He enjoyed dropping the coins into the cup and asked questions he got very excited when my answer was wrong .
Good morning,
Thanks for the call Ms Siswick, its really motivated Alexander to complete his tasks today.
Alexander had 5 turns at guessing the number of coins and got 3 right, he enjoyed getting me to guess the number of coins too.
Good morning Miss Siswick, Hermine found this game quite tricky but enjoyed it very much. We challenged Gabrielle with a lot of coins dropped in the cup and we had a lot of fun
Well done, Nicolas, Caspian, Alexander, Hermine and Esme, for your wonderful counting this morning. I thought that this would be tricky but it sounds as if you are all excellent counters!
I am very sorry that I am replying so late this morning as I was phoning people at home. Hopefully, I will get to talk to each of you in the next few days. Love from Miss Siswick.
Hi Miss, hope you are well, Aoife could do this (1-10). We are challenging her with numbers 11-20, now. Regards to all. John Hayes
Well done, Aoife. Let me know how you get on with the challenge of the bigger numbers.
Sam started off counting quite well, he counted 3 coins and 5 coins. Then he was too busy chatting and said it was too hard, he needed to do something easier 🙂
Good start, Sam. maybe you can try again later or you could test Mummy instead!
Hello nursery,
Fiadh found this game difficult, but after a lot of tries she got the hang of it. She enjoyed challenging Saoirse with it. They had both had fun!
I am glad that you and Saoirse enjoyed it, Fiadh. Well done.
Hi Miss Siswick,
I miss you. I counted to 20 with Miss Jones and I wrote my numbers to 10.
Well done, Indigo. I miss you all too.
Grace enjoyed this task. She correctly guessed the coins dropped and found the number cards. We started with 8, then 10, 12 and 15. Then she tried it on me a few times too.
Well done, Grace. Great listening and counting.
Ania surprised me today, I thought it would be a difficult task for her but Ania did everything correctly. In the beginning I chose (6,8,10) Ani counted without a problem and found a number.
She have great fun.
Sorry Miss Siswick. Should be” no problem”.
Well done, Ania. Great listening and counting.
Really fun game! The whole family got involved and it became quite competitive!
Dear Miss Siswick,
We really enjoyed the game. Anna can recognise 1-10.
I am glad that you enjoyed today’s game, Philip and Anna.
Hello,
It’s very hard for Victoire, she has trouble counting the sounds of the coins in the cup.
