Today’s task: Choose 6* of your favourite toys and put them together so that you can see them. Talk about what you have chosen to help you to remember what is there.
Next, close your eyes and turn around. Ask a grown up to take one toy away. Then open your eyes and see if you can say what is missing.
When you’ve had a few turns you can take away objects and ask your grown up to remember what is missing.
Have fun! I am looking forward to hearing how you got on.
Love from Miss Siswick.
*If you are finding it tricky to remember what is missing, try the activity with fewer objects until you get more confident. If you are finding it very easy, try the activity with more objects.
We chose a duck, piece of Lego, a lady figurine, a toy pan and a jigsaw piece and an owl. The Lego was the first piece to be taken away which Grace guessed correctly then we carried on and she guessed again and she counted them from 6 with each one taken away to 5,4,3 and 2. Later we’ll do it again with different toys. She thought it was funny to turn around and see what had been taken away.
Good morning Miss Siswick,
I chose six of my favourite toys. These are a furby, a hatchimal, an ice cream cone, a bus, an egg and a recycling truck. I counted the toys and had lots of fun with the activity.
I was able to correctly remember all the objects that were taken away from the 6th to the last object and had a few turns. I had lots of fun!
Hello, thanks for the game. Adelaide really enjoys it. She was struggling a bit at first but after a few turns she almost doesn’t hesitate anymore. We are changing the objects every 10 minutes or so to make the game more difficult.
At the beginning Nicolas had trouble to recognise what I took away. After going through the objects and putting the objects into context (aeroplane in N song, crocodile makes snap etc.), he enjoyed the game and guessed correctly. We also tried covering everything with a blanket. It was fun and Nicolas enjoyed it most when it was my turn to guess! ?
Hello Miss Siswick
Ania liked this task very much and had a great time. She chose 6 favorite toys and knew without no problem which disappeared even when they were not in the same order as before .
Philip played this game with Florence as well, we ended up with 16 items to remember. So it was also a challenge for the adults. But we had a lot of fun with this activity.
Good morning Miss Siswick

Well done; Gabriel, Grace, Caspian, Alexander and Adelaide. I am glad that you had such fun with today’s Maths activity.
Another way you can play this is to cover up the toys with a towel or blanket and see if you can remember all of the toys that are there. Have fun!
