Good Morning, Nursery.

I loved hearing all of your ideas about the stories last week.

Today, we are focussing on a new traditional tale-The Gingerbread Man.

You can read the book if you have it or listen to the story on the video. (Can you guess who is reading it?)

Then choose your favourite character from the story and tell an adult all about them.

Next, can you use the story map to tell the story in your own words?

You could create a picture of the characters or your favourite part of the story.

You could make a gingerbread man puppet.

You could also use toys to retell the story or act it out.

You could even bake a gingerbread man of your own. I hope that it doesn’t run away from you!

I am looking forward to hearing all of your ideas.
Love from Miss Siswick.

PRINTABLE VERSION:N Topic Tuesday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

  1. Hello Mrs Knowler
    We like your reading here.
Leopold prefers the horse (Not pig or cow) because he is not eaten and he doesn’t eat the little gingerbread man. It is a sad story because the fox is too clever!

  2. Sam and Maggie were glued to the story, thank you Mrs Knowler! Sam’s favourite character was the fox as he got to eat the gingerbread man.

  3. Mrs Knowler was reading the story.

My favourite character is the fox because he gets to eat the gingerbread man at the end of the story. He is sly and crafty the old fox and he tricks the gingerbread man who is a bit silly. Ha ha

    Good morning,

Mrs Knowler was reading it – yeah! Adelaide favourite character is the Gingerbread man because he makes her laugh and because she loves that the mummy was cooking it.
Adelaide then told the story using the map. She said the mummy cooked the gingerbread man. Then he ran, met a pig, the pig followed him, then a cow and a horse and finally a fox. He jumped into the river and the fox caught him, took him to his house and ate it.

Thank you for the lovely story. My favourite character is the gingerbread man because he has lots of sailor decorations on him.

    I enjoyed retelling the story-
Molly and her mum made the ginger breadman, he ran away. They ran after him and the horse and cow ran after him too to eat him. The gingerbread man said ‘run run as fast as you can you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man’. The fox came at the river. You must be tired. Don’t worry I’ll carry you across. It’s getting deeper, you better hop on my head. Then he gobbled and crunched him up. Then Molly and her mum needed to have toast and jam instead for tea.
