Our new topic for Spring 1 is… ‘People Who Help Us.’
This is an exciting topic with plenty of opportunity to make connections between people and places. We will explore lots of different people who help us in our local community, from friends to doctors and from shop keepers to fire fighters. This topic will also provide us with the opportunity to discuss how we can help others too.

What people help us in our community? What special jobs do they have?
We will share all of your responses in class which will create some fantastic discussions!
Police help us – when we’re lost they find us and when we’re in trouble they help us. Firemen help us – they set out fires when they are in our house. Doctors help us – when we’re sick they make us better. Mamas help us – with making dinner, brushing teeth, and making breakfast. 👩🚒👮♀️🚓🩻🏥
There is a lot of people who help us on daily basis. I love my local supermarket staff who always help us when the till doesn’t work, the bank attendant she always asks how she can help, the post office lady who send the letters away. I also see some delivery people who brings all kind of orders. Ambulances also provide care to people in need, firefighters not only deal with fires but gas leak or other hazards to the community they have all different kind of special clothes. There is so many services around and I am looking forward to learn more about it.
Nurses help doctors, Vets take care of animals, fire fighters protect us from fires and put out fires, teachers help us learn, police help us if we are lost and protect our community.
Shop assistants help us in the shop when we can’t find the food that we need. The lollipop man helps us when we are crossing the road to get to school. My nanny helps my mummy and daddy to look after me when they are at work. A policeman helps us to stay safe by catching the bad man. Firefighters help us when there is a fire and an accident.
The twins loved their visit from Jayne the doctor and the two police officers. They found it very interesting how a doctor can help us when we are sick and the police are here to help us stay safe always.
