Before we start, revise all the sounds you know so far.
Say each sound out loud.
Here are the Phase Two sounds and tricky words
Now revise the phase three sounds and tricky words
Sing along to the tricky word song.
Sort the sounds, do they have an ‘oi’ or an ‘ow’ sound?
Today’s sound is ‘igh’ we say it like we say the tricky word ‘I’.
See if you can work out what all these pictures are, they each include the ‘igh’ sound.
Have a go at writing some of the words in your home learning book.
If you are confident to write the words, have a go at putting them in a sentence.
Have a go at reading this story out loud. It includes the ‘igh’ sound.
Hello Miss Savage, this one was very difficult!
Maya
Morning reception, have a good time learning the new sound ‘igh’.
Hello reception…. brIGHt sunshine today…hope you enjoy your phonics.
Morning Miss Savage, it takes Ruby-Mae a few time to understand the sound. She managed to read the story with my support..we’ll keep practising. Thank you.
Well done, Ruby-Mae. Lovely to know that you manage reading the story with ‘igh’ sound.
It was a little bit harder, she managed to read the story with a little help. We loved the song.
We also had a hard time with the sound OI and OW.
Listening to the phase three jolly phonics songs might help you to remember the digraphs Philippa.
