Good Morning Year 2!

Well done for all your wonderful work on our topic of Pentecost. Today we are starting a new topic called:

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is a very fancy word that means being forgiven after you have done something wrong and apologised for it.

We all know that we want to make good choices and that we sometimes make wrong choices. If we make a wrong choice, we then say sorry and we are reconciled with that person again, we’re back to being friends.

For today’s big question, I want you to think about:

Why are rules important?

Remember that a big question often means you have to think hard and talk about it with members of your family as there are lots of ways you can answer it.

Things you could think about:

  • Where do we have rules?
  • Who needs to follow rules?
  • Do we have different rules in different places?

Read what other people have written and say whether you agree, or disagree, and why.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Do we have different rules in different places?

We need rules to make sure that everyone can be safe and happy, and to encourage everyone to be considerate and kind towards others. It’s important to try to obey the rules, for example at school, church or home. At the moment there are extra rules because of Covid 19 so that we don’t catch the virus, and it doesn’t spread too quickly, and recently the government said that we don’t have limited time outside and that we can have picnics and other things. It’s not good when there are too many rules which stop us doing all the fun things we like to do. There also have to be rules on roads so cars don’t crash into each other or into pedestrians. The same rules go with cyclists!

  6. Miss Carruthers says:

What interesting thoughts Rex. You’re right, we do have lots of extra rules at the moment to keep us safe.

  7. 1. We have rules everywhere including public places, at home and even churches.
    2. Everyone needs to follow the rules including the queen so we can make the right choices.
    3. We do have different rules in different places but one rule that is always important to us is to be kind and generous.

  8. Miss Carruthers says:

  10. We have rules in school & at home.
Everybody in the whole world needs to follow rules.
Yes we have different rules at school than we do at home. If we obey the rules it means it’s fair on everyone.
I like rules because they help you learn and they teach you to not say things & they show you what you can and can’t do.

  11. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done Romey. I agree, rules keep it fair for everyone.

  12. Sophia B says:

We have rules at home like not watching too much iPad ?or too much Roblox because we would never do our school work. Also not eating too many sweets ? as it is bad for our teeth ?.

We have rules at school to be good or we will go down the rainbow ? and be sent to Miss Coleman ??‍?.

There are rules in the park? like no dogs without a leash ??? so they don’t hurt children ?or toilet on the grass ?. Sometime they say no cycling so people don’t get hurt by the bikes ?.

  13. Miss Carruthers says:

Well done for thinking of all your different rules!

  15. Miss Carruthers says:

  16. We also have rules on the football pitch don’t we Rafael?

  17. Why are rules Important?

We have rules at school and at home and everywhere really.
Rules at school are respect each other, listen to the teacher and be nice.
There are also rules at parks and offices and home.
At home the main rule is brush your teeth.
Dogs also have rules. The main rule is they must not go to the toilet in the house.
Everybody in the world needs to follow rules or the world would be crazy. Sometimes people break the law and have to go to court. Judges decide if they can go or if they have to go to prison. They decide by making big decisions about what the person did and how serious it is. If its not the most serious they can go home but if you stole the crown jewels you would definitely go to prison.
I think rules are good because they help people learn how to be good.

  18. Miss Carruthers says:

Brilliant Nadine, you’ve really thought hard about lots of different rules.
