Good Morning Year 2!

We’re going to have a look at the importance of rules today. Rules help us to live, work and play happily together. Rules help us to care for ourselves. Rules help us to care for others. Rules help us to be caring, free, responsible people.
Rule are necessary in sport, at home, in school and when we’re outside.
Have a read of this story about Robin and his big brother David:
Questions to think about:
- What rules did Robin have to learn?
- What would have happened if Robin had not followed the rules when they played with the others?
- Why were the rules important?
We have lots of important rules at the moment. We must listen to the government and keep safe. Hopefully we will be able to see one another soon.
1. Robin had to learn the rules of football. He had to learn to kick the ball and not pick up the ball. He had to learn to get the ball and kick ??it in to the net ? .
2. People would not want to play with him and might get hurt ? .
3. So people don’t get hurt and enjoy the football ⚽️ game.
I have to be at school ? at 8.55 ⏰. This is so we are ready to start the day together and get ready for lessons ??? . If we are late we have to go upstairs in to the classroom without our teacher and friends ?because they are already in the classroom. We might miss out our morning prayer ?.
Well done for thinking through all the different rules. It’s so important to follow them – it isn’t nice to come into school late and then go up without our friends.
1. Robin must kick the ball in the net and not pick up the ball with his hands and not hurt others.
2. If robin didn’t follow the rules, no body would play with him.
3.it is important to follow rules so that everyone plays fair and no one will get hurt.
At school we have to be kind to one and another because it not nice to be horrible to anyone and you can hurt people feelings.
Well done Mila. I hope you are kind to others at home as well! 🙂
Good thinking Sophia. It’s always a bit miserable going up to the classroom without your friends.
1. Don’t pick up the ball – kick the ball
2. Don’t hurt other players
3. Stay on the pitch
Somebody (maybe even him) might get hurt because he would have hurt other people.
He would have about sixteen red cards because of all the people he hurt and because he was picking up the ball (if he was in goal the last one I mentioned wouldn’t matter).
They would lose the ball because he wasn’t staying on the pitch.
The rules were important because if there weren’t any rules all the things listed above will happen.
We’re not allowed to run in the corridors at school (or at home – if you have one at home) because if we do somebody might get hurt or something might get broken. And who wants either of those things to happen!
Wonderful answers Rex, you’ve thought very carefully about this. Rules are so important to keep us safe. Even if they seem boring (it might be fun to run in the corridor) they are there for a reason.
1. Not to use his hands but Robin could use his feet and not to hurt other players.
2. then the other boys and girls will not like to play football with him.
3. So no one will get hurt.
Well done Layla. What is a rule that you have to follow?
1. What rules did Robin have to learn?
Robin had to follow the football rules and the rules were don’t pick up the ball and don’t hurt people also try and kick the ball into the goal.
2. What would have happened if Robin had not followed the rules when they played with the others?
If Robin didn’t follow the rules everyone would be in hospital and hurt and he would not be ably to play.
3. Why were the rules important?
The rules were important because they wouldn’t know how to play.
Brilliant Marisa! We need rules to keep everyone safe.
Robin learnt they he had to kick the ball into the net and not pick the ball up.
He learnt to not hurt the other players so they would play with him again.
Well done Romey. It is so important to follow the rules carefully.
I have to follow this rule when crossing the road.
If I didn’t know that rule I would be dead.
What is the rule you follow? It’s a very important one to follow!
1. Robin learnt that you follow rules to play football otherwise it is not fun and no one will want to play with you.
2. If Robin didn’t follow the rules, he would have hurt others when playing and he would make David feel disappointed.
3. The rules were important so he could play properly and everyone would be happy. Rules can keep people safe and make the right decisions.
A rule that I have to follow everyday is to be kind and respectful to others even to my enemies. Also, to not be violent and help others when they are in need.
Brilliant Sophie. You’ve shown this well in your drawing – I can see you are offering to help your friend. Well done!
1. He had to learn not to pick up the ball, stay on the pitch and not to hurt other people.
2. He would have been disqualified and kicked out of the game. He might have been bullied because he couldn’t play football. He might have hurt people if he didn’t follow that rule. That is rude, even if you are little because you might hurt someone.
3. Because we need to follow rules to become a kind, responsible and caring people that people can trust. You need to follow the rules in football because it’s quite a rough game when you tackle. If you don’t follow the rules you could hurt someone with your legs, arm or even you head.
My rule that I have to follow is to be kind and caring to others. It is important to follow his rule because you need to become a responsible person. If you didn’t follow the rule you would get into big trouble with teachers and at home. But if you did do it, you could still say sorry and someone could forgive you then.
Lovely Nadine. It is so important to be kind to others.
1. Robin learnt to not kick other players.
2. If Robin did not follow the rules no one will play.
3. rules are important so you are safe .
Well done Rafael. What rule do you have to follow?
1. Robin had to stay on the pitch, kick the ball instead of picking it up and not hurt anyone.
2. If Robin didn’t follow the rules no one would want him to play. He would ruin the game for everyone and might hurt someone.
3. The rules were important because without them no one would enjoy the game.
We have a rule at home to do our homework and read every day. It’s important for us to learn or else we will grow up not knowing much!
That is a very important rule to have at home!!
Yes John and Rebecca. This is a good rule to have at home. It is especially important now that we’re not at school.
What rules did Robin have to learn?
Not to kick people, to kick the ball into the net, to keep it on the pitch and not to pick the ball up.
What would have happened if Robin had not followed the rules when they played with the others?
The other children might tell their parents or Robin’s mum. They would not want to play with him any more. They might think David is a bad big brother.
Why were the rules important?
So that other people don’t get hurt and their feelings don’t get hurt.
Well done Finley – you’ve thought through these answers well.
Wonderful work Catherine. I’m pleased you thought of a rule from school, and why it is so important. It seems like such a little rule but actually keeps people safe.
1. The rules are, not to hurt the other players, not to pick the ball up and to stay on the pitch.
2. Nobody would want to play with Robin.
3. The rules are important so that the players can play safely, have fun and score 900 goals.
At school the rule is that Year 1 and Year 2 have two football days each. This is to make it fair.
Well done Joshua. You’re right, our football days makes sure that it is fair and that everyone gets a go.
I like your drawing and I agree with you Catherine. We wouldn’t want our lunch all over the floor either would we?
Hi Miss,
Here are my answers:
1 David taught Robin how to play football ⚽️ you need to try and kick the ball into the net also you do not hit the other players.
2 Know one will play with you.
3 They are so important because you can get hurt ?.
When you get home ? you need to wash your hands with soap.
Bye Bo
Well done Bo, you’ve thought about a new rule we all have to make sure we are following.
1) Robin had to learn that hurting others was bad, you can’t grab the ball and kick it in the net
2) If Robin did not follow the rules then no one would have played with him and they would have kicked Robin out of the game
3) The rules were important so that everyone could play and fairly and properly enjoy the game
Well done Gabi, rules help to keep things fair.
I like your drawing and I agree with you Catherine. We wouldn’t want our lunch all over the floor either would we?
I have loved reading all your answers to this story Year2. I think you’ll all have to remember these football rules when you get back onto the school football pitch!
