Good Morning, Reception.
Yesterday, we were guessing how many objects would fit into a shoe!
Today, we are going to measure how many spoonfuls will fit into a bowl.
You need; a small bowl (like a cereal bowl), a spoon, cereal or rice or small, dry pasta pieces.
Take a spoonful of cereal, rice or pasta. Tip it into your bowl.
Then, each of you must estimate how many spoons you will need to fill the bowl.
Write down your guesses next to your names.
Take a second spoonful and do the same again.
Keep going like this until the bowl is as full as it can be.
How many spoonfuls did your bowl hold?
Write down the number.
How close were your guesses?
Who was closest?
Write the number.
Now try the activity again with another type of filling, e.g. rice. (It should hold the same number of spoons!)
Have fun! I am looking forward to hearing all about it.
Love from Miss Siswick. (I will be at school so I will not be able to respond until later today.)
PRINTABLE VERSION:R Maths Friday
It would really help me if you could upload photos straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.
