Good Morning, Reception.
Well done for your great Maths work yesterday.
Today, we are going to play a game to practice careful counting.
You need a cup, about twenty coins and your number cards.
Sit with your back to your grown up so that you can’t see them or the cup.
One at a time, your grown up will drop some of the coins into the cup while you listen and count.
When they stop, can you turn around and say how many coins that you heard going in the cup? (This is harder than it sounds!)
Can you find the number card or write the number?
Count the coins. Were you right?
Can you find the number card or write the number?
Have lots of turns. Can you get it right three times in a row?
Swap places and test your grown up! Can they get it right three times in a row?
I am looking forward to hearing all about it.
Love from Miss Siswick.
PRINTABLE VERSION:R Maths Tuesday
It would really help me if you could upload photos straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.
Good morning Reception! Well done for all your hard work yesterday. This is another fantastic Maths activity. Have fun!!
Good morning, James had a lot of fun playing this game today !
We had 3 turns each and he got it right each time!
James.
Hello miss Siswick,
We loved this game! We will do it again! I had 4 goes before changing we Philippa. She guessed all the numbers I did and choose the right number card.
I did 5,6,17,12.
Then it was Philippa’s turn with the coins, I guessed all but one. She did 8, 16, 20.
We sent you a picture!
Good morning Miss Siswick,
This maths was great, I could find the correct number all the time!
Hi Miss Siswick! I have done all of the maths! I played with my big brother and it was very hard!
I had a lot of fun doing that game.
I got it wrong the first 3 rows. I was missing one each time and then I got it all correct.
We did it at least 20 times starting slowly and then super fast and then my sister took turn.
That was really fun.
?
Ryan guessed right every time even when quickened up the pace – he has sharp ears unlike his mum.
8, 12, 18, 7
He enjoyed this exercise
Alexander loved the game as well. We did it with beans as we couldn’t find many coins! They made a great noise in the cup (annoying to his brothers) but it worked well. Alexander got a few wrong but most of them wright.
Well done, everyone, for your wonderful counting this morning. I thought that this would be tricky but it sounds as if you are all excellent listeners!
I am very sorry that I am replying so late this morning as I was phoning people at home. Hopefully, I will get to talk to each of you in the next few days. Love from Miss Siswick.
Good morning!
Theo was confifent with the numbers! He had a lot of fun with this activity! We did this with Theo’s tokens ! They made a good noise so Theo could heard very propely and he was correct every time!
We will send photo soon
Well done, Theo. Great listening.

Hi, Marcus enjoyed this task. He roped his Dad in to help today, but Dad forgot to swap places and do the guessing, so I’ll have to give it a try later!
We sent a couple of photos…
