Today’s task: Choose 10*of your favourite toys and put them together so that you can see them. Talk about what you have chosen to help you to remember what is there.
Next, close your eyes and turn around. Ask a grown up to take some toys away. Then open your eyes and see if you can say how many are missing.
When you’ve had a few turns you can take away objects and ask your grown up to say how many are missing.
Have fun! I am looking forward to hearing how you got on.
Love from Miss Siswick.
*If you are finding it tricky to find the answers, try the activity with fewer objects until you get more confident. If you are finding it very easy, try the activity with more objects.
Good morning Miss Siswick!
I really enjoyed today’s Math activity. I could easily guess how many objects had been removed but it was a bit harder to guess which objects were missing.
Amber has done well with subtraction up until the quantity of 10. Less so when we got up to 14 toys and I removed 2.
I’ll upload all photos later.
We are having fun doing h this exercise (James coming in to take Amber’s counted toys for his exercise today too).
HI, Marcus really enjoyed this task and was able to do the subtractions from 10. He picked a couple of very small toys to try to make it harder!
We’ve uploaded a photo!
Well done; Sybille, Maya, Madeleine, Marcus and Harlow. I am glad that you are having fun with this Maths activity. Counting back can be tricky so we will practice this again soon with another fun game.
Ryan enjoyed this session and we are going to use it again for other maths sessions. More difficulty encountered when subtracting above 10. A great idea for learning subtractions and additions
I had a lot of fun. I wanted to do more games. I new what toy was missing especially on the last round. I counted the toys and guessed how many toys my sister took away.
I had a lot of fun in doing this exercise. I have been good at remembering the toys ?. I ordered them in my head by types : soft toys, games, trains, cars and a calculator. It helped me a lot as I checked how many I saw and how many I remembered I had. If I found that 1 train was missing by counting, I tried to think about which one was missing. We started by removing one object and after more. Then, we added some more toys. I kept the same way of counting them. Of course it was a little bit more difficult.
James found this activity very fun! We started to remove toys but it was too easy as he counted how many there were and very quickly found which one was missing. So we played in a different way by moving the toys around instead of removing them. James think this game was a good way to train his memory !
Good afternoon ,
Chiara loved the exercise and it was difficult to stop her to find missing toys :)this is a great practice for memory we will implement for games in the future.she found it easier to do the soustraction.
Florence and Philip played this game together, it was hard to chose just a few favourite toys so we ended up with 16 items. We had a lot of fun playing the game, which was also a challenge for the adults!

Harlow practiced counting backwards from 10 to figure out how many objects were removed. It was a bit tricky so we need to keep practicing!

Hello Nico,
also Nico enjoyed this activity. If he couldn’t remember all the missing items, we would work it out by counting the ones left.
James enjoyed the exercise/game as it was a different way of learning.
Well done; James, Chiara, Florence and Nico. I am so glad that you enjoyed your Maths activity today.
Good morning Miss Siswick,
I enjoyed this activity. Great to learn maths and play at same time!
Have a good day
