Good Morning, Reception.
We have been practicing the tricky words and the digraphs ‘ch’, ‘sh’ and ‘th’. Don’t forget to keep looking out for them when you are reading a range of books.
Today, we are going to practice the digraph ‘ng’. A diagraph means two letters together which make one sound. This digraph is mainly found at the end of words.
Practice saying the sound ‘ng’ and making the ‘ng’ action.
Can you read these ‘ng’ words?
Can you write these ‘ng’ words?
Can you use the words in a sentence?
Challenge: Can you think of any more words with the ‘ng’ sound?
I know that Geraldine the Giraffe is very popular so here she is learning the ‘ng’ sound too! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vQshNmncnBs
I am looking forward to hearing all about your phonics today.
Love from Miss Siswick
PRINTABLE VERSION:R Phonics Tuesday
I wrote all the words out in my homework book.
I found more words at home.
Painting.
Lighting.
My mummy’s name – Wendy Ng.
James
Well done, James. Your mummy has the perfect name for our Phonics today!
We sent a picture of our homework. We read and wrote the words on our own. We made a sentence: the king had wings.
It was hard to find word with Ng, we came up with baking, playing and crying.
Well done, Philippa. I would love to see a king with wings!
Good Morning,
Chiara read and write the words herself and found “camping” “packing” and “wrong” we sent the picture
Well done, Chiara. I would like to go camping too!
Good morning Miss,
I sent my writing ✍️. I read the words. I found some new words like coding, playing, wrong or orang-utan.
Great writing, Cesar. I know that Charles loves coding. Who is King Thistle?
Good morning
Ryan did this exercise and came up with the line – The ice was freezing
Another sentence (not written yet) The bell rang ding dong.
Well done, Ryan. Great sentences. I hadn’t thought of ding dong even though it rhymes with ping pong!
Luca thought of the words, “Singh”, “jingle” and “long”. His sentence is: Mr Singh is eating.
Well done, Luca. Jingle has made me think of another one… jungle!
Good morning!
Theo write and read well today.
I will send a photo of his work.
I just sent my writing and my sentences.

Hi, Marcus could read and write the “ng” words unaided.
He came up with 9 of his own “ng” words and made up and wrote out a couple of long sentences!
We’ve sent two photos as it took up two pages!
What a fantastic work Reception! I love seeing photos of your home learning tasks.
I’ve sent my writing, I read all the words but couldn’t find more words with the sound ng
Harlow thought of bring, ding and spring. We’ve sent a picture too.
Well done; Theo, Madeleine, Marcus, Maya and Harlow. I’m sorry for the delayed answers and if your photos aren’t posted-my computer keeps freezing and then logging me off!
Great writing all of you. Hopefully you will be able to see your work soon.
King Thistle is in the cartoon Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom. I find it very funny. It is about elves and fairies and a very special ladybug ? called Gaston. King Thistle is a fairy which is why he has wings.
Thank you, Cesar. I had never heard of him before.
We have sent Amber’s ng writing
We sent a photo of Maya’s writing.
She came up with these sentences:
Here is your ring.
Let’s play ping pong.
She couldn’t think of her own words though.
Well done, Amber and Maya.
Hi Miss Siswick, Juliana thought of string and swing. We have sent you a picture.
Well done, Juliana.
Rosa was able to read and write all ng words. She made the additional words; gang. Sting and spring were made with prompts. She wrote one sentence using three ‘ng’ words.
Well done, Rosa.
I sing a song at home.
Well done, Sienna.
