Good Morning, Reception.

I loved hearing your ideas about what Little Red’s brilliant idea to save him from the wolf might be.

You all had such brilliant ideas of your own!

Look at the next picture and talk about what you can see.

Keep reading to find out Little Red’s brilliant idea:

Were you right about the Little Red’s brilliant idea?

Do you think it was a brilliant idea? Why?

The Little Red story is similar to the Little Red Riding Hood story but not the same.  Look at this story map of the story of Little Red Riding Hood:

What is the same as in the Little Red story and what is different?

You are going to make up your own version of the Little Red story. Today, I would like you to think of some characters of your own.

What will your main character be called? Choose a colour (it can’t be red!) and change the name of the main character to Little..?

Is your character a boy or a girl?

Where does your character live?

Who is your character going to visit? (It can’t be Grandma!)

Which animal will try to eat your characters? (It can’t be a wolf!)

Can you draw and label your characters?

I am looking forward to hearing and seeing all of your ideas.
Love from Miss Siswick

PRINTABLE VERSION:R Topic Tuesday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

  1. Good morning Miss, Little Red’s idea ? was brilliant ! I was wrong about it.

Both stories start the same way, the ends are different. Little Red Riding Hood is eaten by the wolf as well as Grandma and a woodcutter comes to their rescue by opening the wolf’s belly.

My character is Little Purple, also known as Nanny Plum, she is a girl ? living in the Little Kingdom. She is visiting the wise old Elf and Gaston the ladybird ?wants to eat her.

  2. Philippa says:

    Hello miss siswick!
We loved the book, it was funny when he burp. We didn’t guess he was going to do that.
We made up our own story, it is called little pink. She lives in France with her mum, dad an auntie. She goes visit her cousins, Emi and Delfi in America and there is a crocodile in the lake.
    We sent you pictures!

  3. I was not right about little reds idea – I thought red would give him a basket of apples
It was a brilliant idea because the drink was fizzy and more tasty than grandma – when I drink fizzy drinks it feels like it will come out of my nose
The stories were the same because there was a forest and a grandma – but the woodsman was not in little reds story
My character will be Little Orange – because Orange is the closest colour to Red , except Brown and I don’t like Brown
    My character is a boy
My character lives in a flat in Scotland which is near the beach
My character is going to visit my uncle Stuart
A shark is going to try to eat Stuart on the beach

  4. Hello Miss Siswick I think yes it was a brilliant idea because it made the wolf spit out the grandma. So the Litlle ted won!
The 2 differences between the 2 stories are:
    – Little Red Riding Hood is a girl and Little Red is a boy
    – In the Little Red Riding Hood there is the hunter who helps the Little Red Riding Hood
I will send you my own version today, it is done on my notebook.

  5. Good morning ! We were wrong because we thought Little Red was going to throw apples at the wolf and then run away !
Little Red is a boy and saves grandma by giving the wolf some ginger beer, Little Red Riding Hood is a girl and the wood cutter saves her and her grandma.

In his drawing James drew Little Blue, a boy who wants to visit the wood cutter. The wood cutter has been eaten by a very mean giant spider !

    James

  6. Good morning!
In the picture, I can see Little Red giving keg of ginger beer to the wolf.
    Theo’s idea was wrong.
The Little Red ideas is great because he safes his lovely grandma.
    Different between the story:
    -boy and girl
-grandma’s cottage and Red Riding Hoods house.

My own character is: Blue girl
    Is a Girl
    She lives in a city
    She will visit her mummy
The giant tries to eat her

  7. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, everyone. I am sorry for the late reply but I am at school today. Love from Miss Siswick.

  8. Hi Miss Siswick, we really enjoyed this story. We didn’t guess what Little Red was going to do next, but it was a brilliant idea because this way the wolf will not eat granny again. Differences: no ginger beer in Little Red Ridding Wood and in Little Red no woodcutter.
Juliana’s story: the main character is called ‘Little Rose’, she’s a girl, she lives in the forest, she’s visiting her friend ‘the big good wolf’.
In this story, they are friends and eat icecream and milk.

  9. Hello Miss Siswick

I was wrong about what Little Red would do next because I thought he would throw apples at the wolf. I think his idea was brilliant and very funny. It was different and better than Little Red Riding Hood because the wolf wasn’t hurt and he stopped eating grandmas.

In my story the character is a boy called Little Green and he is visiting his two friends who live by the Lake. A cheetah will try to eat them.

  10. Florence says:

“My character will be called Little Pinky, she’s a girl and she lives in a castle in london. She is going to visit a museum and there is a fox that will eat her. He has a balloon so he can float into the chimney of the museum. “

  11. Hi Miss Siswick, I loved hearing the end of the story! My answers to the questions are:
I can see the wolf in Grandma’s dress! Little Red is giving the wolf some ginger beer.
Little Red’s idea was brilliant! My idea was a bit similar about the wolf being so full with ginger beer he coughed Grandma back up!
Things that were the same in the stories were: Red, Grandma, wolf, forest
Things that were different: Inn, boy, ginger beer, wood-cutter
I made my story about Little Yellow, who lives in a sky-scraper, going to see her Grandpa and a Coronavirus monster is trying to eat everyone!
I’ve drawn a scary picture and sent a photo!

  12. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, everyone. I have loved hearing your fantastic ideas for characters and settings for your own story. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
