Good Morning, Year 5.
I would like you to revisit the story of Pentecost here:
Can you see how the power of the Holy Spirit is seen and changes lives?
The power of the Holy Spirit is for everyone. All Christians are called to share the mission to spread the Gospel message.
This is Peter’s message explaining to the people in Jerusalem that the gift of the Holy Spirit is for everyone:
“God has raised this very Jesus from death and we are all witnesses to this fact. He has been raised to the right hand side of God, his Father, and has received from him the Holy Spirit, as he had promised. What you now see and hear is his gift that he has poured out on us. All the people of Israel, then, are to know for sure that this Jesus, whom you crucified, is the one that God has made Lord and Messiah!”
When the people heard this, they were deeply troubled and said to Peter and the other apostles, “What shall we do, brothers?” Peter said to them, “Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God’s gift, the Holy Spirit. For God’s promise was made to you and your children, and to all who are far away—all whom the Lord our God calls to himself ”.
Many of them believed his message and were baptised, and about three thousand people were added to the group that day. They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers.
Based on Acts 2: 32-39, 41-42
Your task for today:
Imagine you were in Jerusalem at the time, heard Peters message and have just been baptised. Write a letter to a friend who has not heard about Jesus, giving reasons to show how belief in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit has empowered you and changed your life. Remember to make links to the scripture or other saints/ People of God in your letter.
Don’t forget to say what the message was and mention how you felt when you heard it. What did Peter tell the people of Israel to do? How did the crowd react? How did it change your life? How have you become a better person because of Peter’s message? What would you encourage others to do?
If you prefer, you can take a photo of your handwritten letter and send it to us via the Homework Uploader. Please make sure you sign your letter with your first name only 🙂
Miss Coleman and Miss Carruthers will kindly respond to the blogs today.
I look forward to reading your letters on Friday!

Hello Yr 5!
I’m looking forward to reading your letters today – can’t wait!
Hello everyone hope you’re all alright this is my letter:
Dear Friend,
I am writing to you because you will not believe what I heard this morning. A couple of men came down to town today and they had a big crowd around them so I went to listen.
This man named Peter was talking about peace and a Holy Spirit I know you don’t get it yet but listen to what he said. ” God raised Jesus from the dead and we are all witnesses. God has all poured a gift on to us we can get this gift by doing good. To do that you must turn away from your sin and be baptize then you will earn the Holy Spirit of God. To turn away from your sins you should love, care always share always trust people and treat people how you want to be treated, we have to be like Jesus no arguments just trust God.
So did you understand it? I felt like I was meant to be baptized I also felt a bit ashamed because I haven’t been the nicest person ever but that is going to change I have been baptized and I think you should to it feels amazing like a fresh start of life. I could tell everyone else in the crowd felt the same way I did. My new life is wonderful I can forgive and love and I know I will always have the Holy Spirit will always be with me every step I take just like Jesus.
I hope you liked talking to me and agree with me that we should all follow Gods way. Also tell other people about the message and the gospel and how a fresh start is the best idea for everyone.
Claudia
A wonderful letter Claudia. I think you’re right, we can feel a bit of shame when we have done something wrong but God loves us so much and forgives us for anything so long as we are truly sorry. I like how you have described it as a fresh start.

It is comforting to know that the Holy Spirit is with us every day.
Hello everyone, I hope that you are all enjoying your day. Here is my letter to my friend, I hope that you like it:
Dear friend,
Hello, how are you? I know that I haven’t written in a long time but I wanted to tell you all about Pentecost! Now I know that you are not Christian but I am wanted to try and persuade you to join my faith. Pentecost is the time when we all remember Jesus and The Holy Spirit.
In the town of Jerusalem, everyone was preparing for the harvest festival, except for the Disciples and Mary. They were in a quiet room and without the warmth of Jesus around them, they felt empty and alone. They didn’t know what to do with themselfs. When Jesus was with them, they had felt a burning in their hearts, but now they felt clueless and lifeless.
But when they woke on Pentecost morning, they knew that all would be well. They met together that day and felt the Holy Spirit enter their bodies and fill their empty hearts. It felt like a huge gust of wind had blown through the whole house and had woke them up from a deep slumber. No longer tongue-tied, the words came out their mouths, like lava flowing out from a volcano, and at first people thought that they were drunk men. They knew that they had forgotten their sins and opened up to the Lord, once again. They were going from country to country spreading the Word of Jesus and all the great things that he did to make put the world a peace.
On that day, more than three thousand people joined Christianity and the beliefs of Jesus. As a Christian, I believe that Jesus will come back down to Earth and show us the way to peace again.
From your dear friend,
Elsa
