We and the world we live in are full of energy which can be transformed to good use for us and the natural world.
Fire is a traditional means of transformation into energy, producing heat and light. It can be used for cooking, melting, warming and burning liquids and solid substances.
Wind can be transformed into energy, this has happened for hundreds of years. It was used to grind corn in windmills. How it works is that the sun heats our atmosphere unevenly, so some patches become warmer than others. These warm patches of air rise; other air blows in to replace them and that creates wind. The energy of the wind can be used in wind farms by building a tall tower, with a large propeller on the top. The wind blows the propeller round, which turns a generator to produce electricity.
Water can also be transformed into energy. Watermills used water power to grind corn into flour. Wind can transform waves at sea making them higher and these can be used to create energy. Water can be used to make hydro-electricity from rivers and streams in England and Wales and on a large scale in the Highlands of Scotland.
Sun: All of the sources of energy above are dependent upon the transforming energy of the sun. Fire ultimately comes from the sun. The coal or wood used to produce fire has first of all been grown through the heat of the sun. The energy of sun, wind and water can be transformed and used as sources of renewable, clean and earth friendly energy.
Imagine if there were no energy in the world…
As humans we too have energy that can be transformed to good through using our minds, our time and our energy for the well-being of others.
Christians believe that the Spirit of God is active in each person and in a special way in the community of believers, which is the church. It is the work of the Spirit to enable people to hear Gods message, to respond and give them the energy to share it. The feast of Pentecost is a celebration of the gift of God’s Spirit and its transforming power.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
Your question for today:
How can you transform your energy for the good of others?
Think about how you can use your time, talents, efforts, resources to do good for others. How would it make them feel? Can you take note of how you are using your energy for the good of those you live with? For example, I use my time to play with my son. This makes him feel happy and valued.
Please answer on the blog.
Extension Task
Create a piece of Art work based on the story posted on Monday’s blog (The Road to Emmaus) or on Pentecost. Send a picture of your work and I can add it to the blog gallery!
Father, pour out your Spirit
upon your people,
and grant us
a new vision of your glory,
a new faithfulness to your Word
and a new consecration to your service,
that your love may grow among us,
and your kingdom come:
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Hello everyone I think the way you can use your talents and qualities to do good to others is by: giving your time to others to play with them or help them or simply just talk to them and make them feel important and loved. You could also give and share with others when they ask you, and treat others like you want to be treated and how all of Gods people are supposed to be treated. Also you could show them new thing and be very kind to them, like helping them if they do something wrong and you could teach them all about God and Jesus and all of His disciples that helped Jesus and how we are all Gods children and He will always love us.
A fabulous answer. Thank you for your detailed response!
I think you can show your qualities and talents by:
Giving up time up for others to play with them or talk to them. You can also give to others to show that you care about them. You can treat others like you want to be treated. You can talk to them and make them feel special and loved.
Yes, definitely. Do you think any of these would be challenging to do?
Hi, here’s what I’ve been doing and what I could do with my talents, effort and time.
Recently I discovered that I really like cooking and now I use that talent to cook small meals for my family which makes my mum feel less stressed since she doesn’t have to cook as much. I could also use my knowledge of chess or piano to teach them to my sisters. Using my effort I am doing jobs around the house. Finally I used my time to play with my sisters which made them less bored and then happier.
That sounds fantastic and very kind of you. What kind of dishes have you been cooking? How does it make your family feel?
Hello everyone! For today’s task I wrote this:
I use my energy for the others to make then happy. I use my piano talents to play for other people and teach them basic things so they can try learning piano ?.
I use my singing ? talents ? to make people cheerful ? In my opinion- singing makes people happy. I enjoy teaching people how to sing as it can make a big impact in their life.
I use my dancing ?? skills to- again make people happy. If you teach people how to dance they feel proud of themselves because they tried something new. I enjoy teaching people how to dance. I also enjoy making them join in with some dances that I like doing with my friends. I like it when people are trying out new things and getting out of their comfort zone.
I hope you have a GREAT day!!
I HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!!!
?????????
Thank you Nika. Sharing your talents with someone else and teaching them new things makes a real difference to their lives and I am glad you acknowledge this. Hope to see you soon too!
Hi here’s how I have been using my talents and qualities to help people.
My sister likes me looking after her and I like looking after her too so recently I have been looking after her a lot more. This helps my mum and dad because they have a lot of work going on at the moment and they still have to look after my sister but if I look after her it means they can do more work.
I could also use my understanding of maths and English to help my sister learn her numbers, her letters and learn how to read.
Theo, that’s a very kind thing you are doing and I am sure you using your energy will give your parents more energy! Well done
Hello everyone I use my energy and time to play with my sister or help my mum with house work. This makes me feel happy and it makes others feel happy too. Another example of when I used my energy and time was when I went to the old peoples home last year with chamber choir to sing for them and it made me feel happy as it brightened up their day. When my grandma comes to visit I use the talent I have to be able to speak two languages(Italian and English) to translate some things she doesn’t understand as she lives in Italy.
Thank you for sharing the ways you are using your energy for the good of others. You are making a lot of people happy and Christians believe that this is the right way to spread the Good News! Well done
Hi everyone!
I use my energy to make others happy by giving my spare time to play with my little brother, which makes him excited and happy. I also use my time to chat with my friends to make them feel liked and to spread positivity.
Well done Dylan. It’s very important to share positivity during these times and I am glad to see you are doing just that!
Hi Everyone.
I can transform my energy for the good of others by giving my time to help my parents and doing what they want and to do stuff without them even asking .I can not pester as much and could use the objects around me instead of asking for more. Also I can play my violin to cheer people up when they’re down.
Right now it’s only been simple things like eggs and oatmeal but they will get more complicated as I progress. It makes them feel loving, content and thankful.
Eggs and oatmeal can go terribly wrong if you don’t have the skills! Do not underestimate a good egg 🙂 Well done, Zavan. I am sure your parents appreciate your efforts to make them happier.
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well and I hope you have all had a fantastic day so far !
For the Religious Education Question: How can you transform your energy for the good of others? This is my answer:
I use my energy in trying to make more progress with my school work I also help my parents with my siblings while they are working or if they are tired and need a break I look after my sibling for at least and hour and a half (with is 1hour and 30minutes). I also I dance with my family a lot this makes all of use feel joyful and happy!! I also play the piano for my family, I have recently learnt how to play a page of `Beethoven` by Ludwig Van Beethoven. It is actually quite easy once you get to know the song a little bit.
I also use my time on my ipad to talk to my friends on Skype and this way I make them feel happy 🙂
I hope you all are having a great day!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):)
Thank you Elena. I found it quite tricky to read the first bit as there were so many full stops missing and it was a very very long sentence! Could you please take care and check punctuation before sending? I am really impressed you are learning how to play such wonderful music – your parents are very lucky indeed! I am also pleased to know you are using your energy and your time to keep in touch with your friends. This can really make a difference to them. Well done. Have a lovely day!
Hello everyone!
I use my energy to help my mother and father by doing lots of the chores like hanging up wet clothes, tidying up everyone’s beds for them and cleaning the bedrooms. I also use my energy for the good by helping my brother and sister with work. If my sister has lost her phone (Like a lot) I’ll find it for her and if my brother can’t find any stationary e.g. pencils, rulers, I’ll be give him some of my stationary.
That sounds wonderful Ava. I like the way you are sacrificing your time and energy to help those around you. You were always very kind in class too so I can imagine your family members must be very lucky to have you around!
